Ladies and gentlemen of AT, I woke up this morning in a pretty good mood. Logged into MSN Messenger and went upstairs for a bit while the computer stopped buzzing from the post-startup loading Win2k goes through. Having come back downstairs and settling down at the computer I start a conversation with my girlfriend online. She brings up the topic of a "babe picture" in a forum that we both read, and says part of her dream included that girl in it - "Guess what? Remember that girl? I had a dream and saw her in it...".
I'm then quizzed on what the picture looks like. Do you remember how she was standing, the layout? What did you think of her body? During all of this I'm answering "I guess so" and stuff like that because although I did think she was hot, I didn't spend ten minutes writing a critique on her or anything. I try to change topic but it continues anyway.
Then I'm told she was looking through my ISP's webspace area and found the same picture hosted (eg. I uploaded it there). Kind of caught, I say that I uploaded it for hosting for other people to view at another forum I go to (true). She says she's not sure how she feels about this. At this point...a make a little lie. I say I hosted it for someone else. I'm asked a few more questions on this now, and have to lie a bit further. Why did you get asked to host it if both of you had the picture? etc.
Finally - she tells me she saw my post at the other forum with the picture. At this point I'm pretty ticked off. Most if not all of the goddamn conversation this morning seems, in my opinion, to have been constructed to catch me in a lie. I'm suitably annoyed in my replies now. Was there a point to all of this? I'm asked why I lied, what my excuse is. I say it's because she makes a big issue of tiny little things like this (which I think is happening yet again).
I don't think lying to your SO is something that should be done, but screw me into a position like that and what am I supposed to do? I tried to fudge out of the line of conversation because I forsaw her getting upset. She led me on into a position where I decided to lie. Am I REALLY the bad guy in all this?
There's your story, AT... >>
DUDE. You are so busted. You better just get out the Alpo, cuz yer in the doghouse. If there was nothing wrong with what you did, you should have just admitted to it in the beginning. Of course, SHE should have just come out and asked you about it, instead of playing Inspector Gadget. But in the end, you were wrong. You should apologize, take her out to dinner and a movie, then give her a full body massage.
