112 would be calc2?

elementary functions

not many people memorize those trig identities, but the rest you should be really familiar with....

I got nailed on cotangent^2/cosecent^3 simplies to what sorta stuff.

ah, I was referring to things like

[tanx]^2 + 1 = [secx]^2, sin2x = 2sinxcosx and those sorts of things.

the one you just cited...you have to be able to nail really quick in science/engineering :(

cotan^2/cosec^2 = (cos^2/sin^2) / (1/sin^2) = cos^2

EDIT: woops, it was cosec^3, not 2. haha. did the wrong problem :p no biggie. the answer is sin * cos ^2

cotangent = cosine/sine
cosecant = 1/sine
cotangent^2/cosecant^3 = (cos^2/sin^2)/(1/sin^3) = sin * cos^2

If you are even thinking about getting through the 25X series, you need to spend some serious time in the Math Learning Center.

Thanks! I just hope next semester is just as easy. Advanced Calculus. Chaos theory and nonlinear dynamics. Organic Chemistry 2. Ouch...:(

So, if you're having trouble with that,
just wait until you get to Calc I and have to take the derivatives or integrate those types of equations...

They all come back, and you're expected to know them.

No kidding...especially for an engineer

Don't you have that all programmed in your calculator? I know we all did. That stuff was a breeze......:evil:

Stilll, this douche hasn't said whether or not this was calculus II-level trig or JUST trig.......we can bash him all we want until he fesses up

He *already* said it was JUST trig, he gave an example problem. Therefore, I think we can bash him all the more!

If you were having problems in math, you should have came here and asked. Lots of people here are good at math.

are you a CE or any type of engineering major?

Pre engineering in general/industrial & manufacturing

Ahh...you go to OSU. The combination of your MTH 112 test grade and your stated major lead me to believe that your actual major is pre-business. I'd put money on this.

OMG! Rofl!

I'm not doing too hot in math either though. I'm going into my MATH 2200 (Calc 1) final with a 40 something average. :( I hate math.....maybe I shouldn't be a physics major.

I don't want to get you down, but you might want to think about it. If you're having problems with limits and derivatives, higher math will eat you alive. Physics is pretty much the application of mathematical concepts to real life. That's like being an author and not liking reading. It's going to make your life hard.

so what is your grade after the curve?

We don't do curves here.

So you're saying that the exam was easy and you still did poorly? I'm gonna have to agree with CRT on that pre-business major prediction...
