I eat fast food like every day and I'm still skinny. I'm pretty healthy also. :)

Ew. You're probably one of those guys that goes into a coffee shop and spends thirty seconds ordering, aren't you?
whole grain breads,
...just bake bread, or get a amchine that'll do it for you. Buying that stuff isn't doing anything good. It has the same crap as other breads, which is why it can last a week or so w/o getting moldy.
and make them eat some fruit and veggies.
I don't eat many fruits and veggies unless they have some meat around them. A little bit of dead hog and they start tasting pretty good :D. I don't know why, but I can eat asian veggie dishes all day long, but put some beans in front of me and I just can't eat 'em.

Here's why we can eat all that crap. I too am a high school kid working in an office full of 50 year old women, and all they eat is salads. I walk in with a bagel and ham sandwitch or some pizza, and yeah, it's probably worse for me than their salads. Yet, all they talk about is what reality show they saw the night before, or what movie they saw last weekend. Whereas, I played football everyday in the fall, did track and field in the spring, and play soccer 3 nights a week now. I'm not in great shape by any means, but I get enough exercise to keep me from becoming a fat slob.

My office is basically older middle aged business people and no one is terribly outgoing. They all eat salads or an occasional lean cuisine meal. We recently hired a high schooler to do some office assitant type activities and all the kids eats is crap. If it's not some terrible for you microwave dinner, it's a couple of burgers and fries from McDonald's or Taco bell. EVERY single day he eats nothing but crap.

I don't see how kids live on that stuff. Considering both his parents work here in the office (owners son's always have job guarenteed) and they let him do it.

When I was a kid, my parents at least TRIED to get me to eat healthy. True, I grew up a fat kid, but that was from them feeding me too much. Not eating crap.... it's sort of in the same category, but that is another matter.

In any case, I guess I just never gave it a second thought about all the junk food and nasty fat filled greasey mutant foods people eat on a daily basis. It's just nasty.

I can only hope that once he grows up he'll learn to eat healthier and he won't pass this crisis onto his kids. :(

That is my rant for today. Thank you for listening.

Do you have kids? If/when you do, you'll understand. You'll let them eat whatever you can get them to eat without forcing it down their throats. Period.

...how do they keep eating that stuff, though? Are they not exposed to good food? I know people like that, but don't see how they manage. It's more expensive than good food, no less time-consuming, and the only better thing is that it requires less thought to get ahold of.
I, unfortunately, do have one friend who indeed had not eaten good food. I have exposed him to several types of foods he thought he didn't like, simply because he was getting it out of a box or can. He's now going back to college and joining a dinner club (cooks once a week, eats other people's stuff the other 6 days).

Heh, I was the same way when I was young - when I got into my early 20's I was tired of being a bit fat
slob and decided to get into shape. I may have went a bit overboard (went from 220 lbs to 140 on a 6 ft. frame)
but I've learned a great deal of discipline on how to eat properly.
