I think I'll update my first post because when I wrote the initial rant I was pretty pissed about the whole thing and didn't really go into specifics about what I was ranting about. I don't have any problems and I usually do help people who ask help about concepts, I just hate the threads that basically ask people to do their homework for them.

I don't know why you would get so pissed in the first place. You don't own the board, don't fvcking read the thread if you don't like it. Or better yet, go somewhere else to annoy people. Get angry about something that matters for christ sake.

Nice community spirit you have there.

Although I don't like it when a person posts just a question and expects an answer with not so much as attempting to reason the problem (I usually don't bother even reading the thread if the poster hasn't at least attempted the problem), some people geniunely need help after trying to figure out their homework.

In my case, no one wanted to help me so no one did. If they post it and people are actually annoyed enough by homework threads not to help then obviously he wont get the help he's seeking and will probably learn a lesson.

^simple, but brilliant. If there is a 'market' for homework help, then homework will continue to occur. if the 'market' dries up, then each new homework poster will either get no help, or worse get flamed away. if one poster abuses the 'market' then that poster will get no further help and probably get flamed for being a lazy ass. so yea, if you're pissed, don't help. you can't affect the 'market' yourself anymore than anyone else. that's all.
(yes i'm an econ major, it's sad)

Off Topic isn't your personal tutor for everything computer related. If you don't know the answer to something, look on Google or read a fvcking book. I'm tired of all these dumbasses that post the most retarded problems here because they're too lazy to try to figure it out themselves. Off Topic is just this side of becoming the "do my homework because I'm too fvcking stupid and lazy to do it myself".

If your assignment is due tomorrow then and you can't figure it out, it's your fvcking problem stop clogging up ATOT with your "I'm too stupid to figure out recursion" or "I can't figure out how gravity acts on a block because I'm a dumbass." If you waited until the last day to solve your problems, fvck you, you don't deserve the points for that question. If it isn't the last day before your assignment is due, then go see the prof, teacher, TA whose job it is to help numskulls like you hobble through this mess called the educational system. Nobody wants to show you how to prove Liouville's theorem and noone gives a fvck if you don't understand how to use the string tokenizer.

Next time you have a retarded question about your assignment keep it to yourself and look up Google. If you can't find the solution on Google, you're a 'tard anyways and don't deserve the answer. Next thing you know, we have all these super-nerds whining about how they *just* missed an A. Cry me a fvcking river.

Guess you're a 'tard and you don't deserve an answer

If you had half a brain about networking it'd be common sense how to do that.

Oh and by the way:

this took all of 20 seconds to find on Xbox.com

You should get an Oscar for this. :)
I'm impressed.

If it makes you feel better, I do agree with you on that. Back when we were in college ( few years ago ), we learned how to solve problems ourselves. We'd keep at it till we finally figured it out. I'm not saying all the homework threads starters are trying to get others to do their work for them but the majority seem to be. I do believe that's what you're ranting about and what these people just can't seem to understand.

i've posted a few homework help threads before, one in particular about physics which i just couldn't grasp. i got alot of help, went off and tried what i'd been told, and would come back with problems.

i now use physicsforums.com . The benefit of using ATOT is it's so busy and there are so many science/math/engineering majors about that getting hel pis very fast, where as physics forums in general takes 24 hours.

i think that, like physics forums[where it is a rule] , as long as you show attempts or where you are going wrong, or ask "Where do i start" rather then "What is the answer" the homework threads are fine

Some of the homework threads are intersting not the ones of how to add to strings or other simple questions but when someone post an upperdivisional math question the following post are usual very informative and the math majors answer can be kind of intersting.
