What year was that? I remember when gas was well under $1 but I am not sure I remember first run movies ever being that low.

Nah, I know MOST legal immigrants pay taxes...I say MOST because SOME collect welfare and live on the social programs here. (which should be illegal)

It's the ILLEGAL immigrants who all too often DON'T pay taxes because they get paid under the table, or have their exemptions set at 10 or more so no taxes are withheld from their pay. (leaving only the FICA taxes to be withheld)

The OP is mistaking asshole for old. As much as the 'youts' think they're synonymous, being an asshole is not limited to the old.

As far as experience being a better teacher, I'd have to agree. Just because the OP has no experience, doesn't mean it's worthless. I had a well respected anthropology professor albeit apolitical, make a comment that farmers tend to be Republicans because they're conservative. I did my best to set him straight without belittling him in front of the 'youts' who were too busy trying to look interested to pay attention anyways.

How would you set that prof straight? Around here, the vast majority of farmers ARE conservative Republicans...as are the farmers in my family who live in Iowa and Illinois.

While reading this thread, I'm not sure if the people who disagreed with the OP are the person he's talking about or just have never experienced that guy.

The guy he is talking about usually also asks stupid questions that the professor JUST answered. The guy he is talking about sometimes had relevant information to provide, but was usually just annoying. The guy he is talking about ALWAYS made class run late with nonsense (So do you want 1 inch or 1.5 inch margins on this term paper? Should it be done on a computer or can I handwrite it? Is it cool if I throw my own experiences into this paper or should it only be on the book?). The guy he is talking about always threw in his personal experience when it wasn't needed.

I think back to some psychology courses I took. We would talk about a condition or situation and this guy who always managed to be in my class would ask about this one patient he had while working as an aide at a nursing home (This guy did this? Does that fit into this specific situation? ... I once had blah blah blah, that totally makes sense to everyone else who have never met this guy who might have fit this condition).

I'm not saying every non-traditional student is like this -- in fact, most aren't. But being older than the rest of the students and being this guy makes you stick out like a sore thumb compared to being a young person and being this guy.

PS: You can substitute "guy" for "girl," "woman," "man," etc.

EDIT: I would like to add this is not about the older person in your class who is a genuinely good student. Some questions JUST need asking. This person was in some of the few community college classes I took and in some of the entry level classes I took at a university that was way more forgiving (in terms of admission) to non-traditional students than traditional students (i.e. most of the non-traditional students would never have gotten in if held to the same standards as high school seniors).
