Minnesota's controversial wide receiver was fined $10,000
Thursday by the NFL for pretending to pull down his pants and moon
the Green Bay crowd during a playoff win last weekend.
"Ain't nothing but 10 grand. What's 10 grand, to me?" said
Moss, whose salary this season is $5.75 million. He then jokingly
suggested he might perform a more vulgar celebration next time.

KARE-TV of Minneapolis recorded the exchange between Moss and reporters outside the Vikings' practice facility.

Reporter: "Write the check yet, Randy?
Moss: "When you're rich you don't write checks."
Reporter: "If you don't write checks, how do you pay these guys?"
Moss: "Straight cash, homey."
Reporter: "Randy, are you upset about the fine?"
Moss: "No, cause it ain't [expletive]. Ain't nothing but 10 grand. What's 10 grand to me? Ain't [expletive] Next time I might shake my [expletive]."

Him and his fellow Minnesota Athlete Latrel Sprewell would get along pretty good.

Is being an asshole a prerequisite for playing professional sports nowadays?

Why do these moron's make so much while school teachers struggle on their 25k/yr salary. Its disgusting.

Reason enough to give fines based off salary %.

I think everyone is overreacting. Moss is a cocky sonofabitch, but seriously... a fine for pretending to moon the crowd? give me a break.

half the NBA players dont finish high school/college. A lot of baseball players are from poor countries. NFL players have been treated as Gods since the second they stepped on the field, and many probably got by school with illegal help.

Basically, they're uneducated and immature and think they're above everyone else (and unfortunately, their salary helps pound that into their head)

I thought it was kind of funny, seems like sometimes football resembles the wrestling on tv. Its only entertainment.

I think this country needs to get its head out of their ass first of all. Everyone is so up tight about "obscene material" on T.V now. People are being hypocrites, first of all he didn't even do anything wrong. Granted he is being an asshole, he should of never been fined in the first place.

"If you can't have freedom of expression on the football field, come on," DiTrapano said.

Hahaha, reminds me of Family Guy... when Peter is lobbying for tabacco companies.

"I only have one thing to say to you guys...
...

Ccccommmmme on!
Eh, Commmmme on! "

Wrestling is scripted, without that entertainment and drama factor, no one would watch. Stunts like these and stupid athletes keep people away (or at least they should, but knowing people today it'd probably just convince more kids to watch. OMG THAT DUDE SAID FVCK YOU ON NATIONAL TELEVISION. I WANNA BE JUST LIKE HIM. MTV 4 LIFE

LOL! That is awesome. If I was Randy Moss I would have said the same thing... He pays in cash homey. LOL!!!

So "pretending" to pull down ones pants during a NFL game might persuade a kid to do the same act? Give me a break. Id be more concerned with the last Jackie Chan movie the kid might have seen. Stunts like this dont bring more people to watch football games, it just adds to the game IMO. I was watching the game (i wasnt going for either team) and after he got the touchdown and did that, i got a good laugh out of it.

Do you realize that green bay fans are well known for mooning the opposing team when they leave on their bus?

The NFL has been consistent... he's been fined before for taunting (5K and 10K)... and Moss had been yelling expletives at the fans the whole game. His moronic mooning was the straw that broke the camel's back in the decision to fine him.

I highly doubt that. They (FOX) felt the need to replay his yelling at the fans telling them to "look at the fvcking scoreboard" numerous times. When he did the "moon" (which wasn't even a real moon), they were apalled and didn't show the reply again.

They fined him because it is Randy Moss. What he did was pretty dumb...and i have no doubt anyone would have gotten a fine...but they fined him 10k because it was Moss.

You are missing the point. If the NFL let him get away with it, then they're giving an inch. What's next? Players grabbing their crotches? Players pointing to their a$$? Soon the league would turn into the classless XFL, there's a reason why that crap flopped besides lack of talent.

Yes, and he also was shown yelling 17-0 Mth$#%$@^$. It wasn't just once... if that's not taunting, then tell me what is.

No, i agree with you that it's taunting, but I'm saying it had no effect on the fine he was handed. They handed him a big fine solely for the "mooning" incident...because they need to try to punish him to satisfy the outrage by ridiculous people that can't see a fake mooning on TV without having a seizure.

I dunno, it just really chafes my ass when it costs a family of 4 a weeks salary to go to a game and get a couple Cokes and slices of pizza and this guy has the nerve to say stuff like that.

I agree. Actions that detract from the NFL and the team are strickly prohibited. Its the same thing with the players uniforms having to all be the same and all be approved by the NFL (ie. no stickers on helmet, etc). All anyone has talked about all week has been Moss's mooning rather than the Vickings sick beating of the Pack. The NFL doesnt want media focus on these antics and even though I don't think fake mooning is a big deal I agree that the NFL HAS to take action anyway.
