Here's the important thing to understand: if they're mooning you, then they can't really be offended by being mooned, can they? Cursing isn't a big deal at all if you're around me, but it would be rude to just start cursing around my grandmother. Why? Because I curse a lot and I don't care if you curse around me. Same thing here. Plus, he's not just outright trying to taunt fans whose team he's beating, he's specifically responding to a particular thing that they do.

It's just not as bad.

Again your saying two wrongs make a right. Your just adding a lot of other words. Let me simplify it. Take the above bolded statement and replace "moon" with "assault." If they do X to my I can do X to them, basically eye for an eye...

That's not even considering what I said about the players treating their customers like sh!t. How long would you last if you mooned your customers?

How can he be broke at 50? NFL pension is huge. Montana gets about 1M a year. OJ from waaay back gets 180K a year?

Poor sportmanship has no place in professional sports... teaches millions of kids bad habits IMO. I would have suspended him for a year. Spreewell life. Moss is the same guy that pushed a cop directing traffic out if the way with his Lexus. Guess cityhall fiqured Moss's hurry was more important that some cops doing scut work so they did'nt pursue.

ok, using your eye for an eye and assault examples is going pretty extreme compared to this. No matter how much you want to simplify it, that's not the same as pretending to moon someone especially given the tradition of the Green Bay fans. It was a joke and people are overreacting. It's simply ridiculous to compare that to assault or some other crime.

I do agree with treating your customers properly but in the context of a football game, pretending to moon fans again given the tradition of the Green Bay fans is a lot different than if I were to moon my boss in my office environment where it could only come across as offensive.

i agree

maybe if the people that mooned him were charged with indecent exposure or something but as long as they let the fans continue to do this

than i have no problem with a FAKE mooning

Replacing "moon" for "assault" is no different that changing "black" for "white" when comparing for racial motivations. I'm not oversimplifying it. Ilmater and you are definatly saying it's OK because they did it first. Excuse me if that sounds a bit 3rd gradish...

I'm not saying what he did was wholly bad, but the justifications used are piss poor. "It was a joke" is much more acceptable. Then it can simply be said it was a joke in bad taste. All that being said I don't disagree with the fines since he's had problems before with similar incidents.

He's not a comedian, he's a football player.

its not ok because they did it first

its ok because they do it alot every time and there are no repercussions

and again he didnt even moon them

he fake mooned them

the only way i can agree with the fine is if the fans that moon people are arrested

and randy moss would have actually had to moon someone not fake moon them

then i would wholeheartedly agree but as it stands now

the fine is 100% BS

WTF? When did I say it's ok because they did it first? I said it was a joke! (as bolded up top). Comparing a joke by fooling around and getting back at someone (as with any joke, if you can dish it, you also have to be able to take it) is NOT the same as assault, racial motivation or whatever other crap you want to come up with. Those issues are a lot more serious than a football prank whether the prank was in bad taste or not.

Sorry, missed your post.

It aired on national T.V., and I doubt the exact fans he was fake mooning were the same ones that mooned him. Had he done it on the bus ride in, in response to the ones mooning him (before the game mind you), I might agree.

I'd agree to arresting the fans who do it, *if* it's a crime there. Mooning someone isn't always a crime, IIRC it's legal in Texas as long as you don't show anything else. Considering how long they have been doing it, I doubt it's a crime... Now what? Also your still justifying what he did based on what they did.

What about Moss' other finable actions? Shouldn't his "record" be looked at when considering new actions?

I understand he made a joke, that's why I reffered to him as a football player, not a comedian. Your justifying it in the bolded statement when you compare you actions to what would happen if you did it to your boss. What's your point in mentioning what the fans did unless it's reasoning for what Moss did? Perhaps I'm taking that out of context.

Fine, replace "moon" with "insult" so there's no legal aspect. They insulted him, he felt it was OK to insult them. That's grade school mentality. "Teacher, they did it first! WAAAAH!!!!!!"

Exactly. Why so uptight America? It's only a stupid football game. Talking trash is funny in games. Only people with poor self-asteem take it personally.

It OK to laugh.

replacing moon for assault is completely different. assault is illegal. fake mooning someone isnt.

moss is a football player, which means he's an entertainer, and what he did was pretty entertaining imo.

Reason enough to give fines based off salary %.

What he did wasnt worthy of a anything more than a penalty flag for excessive celebration. It is no way warranted a fine.

If the worst thing that ever happens to you in life is some NFL player mock mooning the crowd at a game you attend than STFU.

There are people who have to endure actual real problems that don't have time to complain about the on field actions of some Viking game player.

In short; if Randy Moss deeply offends you personally; GET A LIFE!

The fans are customers, the players are the employees. If an employee showed that kind of disrespect to any customer in any other job they would be LUCKY to get a fine and keep their job. Just for a little perspective.

I don't care what kind of taunting a fan does the players should be held to high levels of maturity. They are getting paid millions to play a game, the least they could do is show respect to the people coughing up the $ for that paycheck. Even if those people are d!cks. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Yeah and if a customer pulled the same sh!t the fans say and do, they would have been arrested for disorderly conduct.

Tell that to the drunk ass hecklers. If I had kids I wouldnt take them to pro games, because of the fans are worse than the players.

Greenbay has been called the worst for poor fan behaviour, worse than Oakland, and thats saying something.

Last I checked Football tries to pass itself as a family sport. While I don't have a 6 or 7 year old watching games with me yet I wouldn't be happy about it. There is such a thing as class and sportsmanship. Randy Moss has proven to have neither. He reminds me about Dennis Rodman, a waste of human life that is headed for self destruction. Sadly, as a Football Fan I suport that. Only hope I have in my contempt for Him is to hope they lose the next game!

If it was really a family sport, beer wouldnt be sold at stadiums.

it's funny that no one is pointing fingers at joe buck for instigating the witch hunt. if he didn't have his panties all caught up in a bunch, no one would make a big deal. now all these randy haters are out and talking shit. for the record, i am not a fan of randy moss but i found the mooning gesture pretty funny. what's wrong with a bit of smack talk? also for the record, i liked joe buck. i think he's an entertaining sports commentator but this incident really threw me. why did he react so violently? you'd think he has some kind of personal vendetta against moss and used the national stage to vent? that's just really poor form from a broadcasting professional.

for me, this incident tarnished buck's reputation moreso than moss's.

I would have just "fake mooned" him back if I was in the stands. I don't know what the big deal is, he's done a lot worse than that......
