It's Wal-Mart, what do you expect? I've been to a handful of Wal-Marts in 5 different states and I've discovered a few constant things about these stores.
1. Nobody should ever go there. Ever.
2. Apparently there are people getting killed in the parking lot left and right or something like this because there's not a supermax prison in the country that has as many security cameras as the front of a Wal-Mart store does. I've yet so see one with less than 50 cameras aimed at the parking lot. And that's just the front of the store. Who the fuck knows what's going on in the back.
3. No matter how nice the area, both the parking lot as well as the store itself will invariably look like they were hit by a tornado.
4. No matter how nice the area, the customers will always look like they've showed up for a casting call for Deliverance. You can almost hear the banjo music playing when you walk into one of these stores. Wal-Mart seems to emit some siren call that only inbreds and genetic freaks can hear.
The Wal-Mart I go to (Hampton Cove, Alabama) is pretty well kept up, occasionally you'll hear country music if you go in the daytime/early evening, but if you go when I do (1-3am), it turns to rock. I was in there the other night and they had Rob Zombie playing.
This is in the nicest part of Huntsville you can get (The store is surrounded by the nicest homes and area in town.
There are plenty of cameras there, but I've never had my car get broke into, and if it did, Walmart can give video footage of the incident. Although, I turn my alarm on anywhere I go.
At this particular store, I've also never heard anything on the news of it being robbed, or any purse snatchings, and other crime happening like you do the other walmarts in the not so nice areas.
