In short, you are both self-serving, hypocritical ideologues who care far less about America and taxpayers than you do about yourselves.

The shortages of physicians is because the AMA pursued policies limiting supply of physicians thus artificially raising wages.

The AMA only recently reversed course on it's 'doom and gloom' prediction of an oversupply of doctors.

As long as the supply of physicians is artificially limited by the government. (Government controls the licensing of physicians) you can't just lower the price to whatever level you want, it creates shortages, its basic economics.

Oh, please. The supply of physicians is controlled by the number of schools and the number of residencies allowed by the AMA. Anybody who successfully plays that game is accepted by the govt as having the proper credentials.

The supply is further limited by the fact that it's nearly impossible for nurse practitioners and other medical professionals to advance to the rank of "Doctor" regardless of experience or dedication. There are the lords and masters, and the serfs, and no way for serfs to become lords.
