ran the austin half marathon!

Woohoo! Congrats ElFenix. I'm looking for a half to enter and not finding one close. So I entered a 15 mile trail run instead. May 3 is the big day.

Congrats! I have a bunch of people who ran it and the full too...said it was a great race. I regret not running this one...but congrats

Did you get a tshirt or technical shirt for finishing?

yup

i've seen smalls that were larger than this 'men's medium'

and medium was a bit optimistic anyway

it's pretty tight. hope it doesn't shrink.

edit: chip time was 2:25:53, or 5.4 mph

How big are you? Technical shirts very rarely, if ever shrink. Was your finishers shirt made by Brooks by chance? Their stuff is on the smaller/more form fitting for all of their shirts. (Shorter, cut tighter on the body)

Congrats! I ran my first last year. Was going to do my first marathon this March, but a muscle injury and low iron have delayed that. I think I'll do the same half marathon again if I can.

i think it was a cotton tshirt, haven't examined it.

the only picture i can find of me is the finishing line pic, and that's only because there is a clock in the picture so i can see what time it is. the pics themselves don't have timestamps so unless there is a clock in the pic you're looking for a needle in a haystack.

I love it to get technical shirts. Everybody has cotton shirts, and once you use a technical for cardio you will never want to use a cotton again.

Congrats! Be careful though, running may be habit forming.
I wish someone had warned me sooner. 😛
That's how I feel about Trance. BTW, you should try it when training, it makes the entire experience better, seriously!

Genre of music? Lots of bass, reminiscent of techno?

I have heard of trance music before, but I like rock more for running. I'm an old fogie, club music doesn't appeal to me.

I find Heavy Metal to more of my liking when running.

The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner by Iron Maiden
:music:
Tough of the track,
With the wind,
And the rain that's beating down on your back.
Your heart's beating loud
And goes on getting louder
And goes on even more till the sound
Is ringing in your head,
With every step you tread,
And every breath you take,
Determination makes
You run,
Never stop,
Gotta win, gotta run till you drop,
Keep the pace,
Hold the race,
Your mind is getting clearer,
You're over halfway there but the miles
Just never seem to end
As if you're in a dream,
Not getting anywhere.
It seems so futile.

Chorus:
Run, on and on,
Run, on and on,
The loneliness of the long distance runner.

I've got to keep running the course,
I've got to keep running and win at all costs,
I've got to keep going, be strong,
Must be so determined and push myself on.

Run over stiles, across fields,
Turn to look at who's on your heels,
Way ahead of the field,
The line is getting nearer but do
You want the glory that goes,
You reach the final stretch,
Ideals are just a trace,
You feel like throwing the race,
It's all so futile.

Chorus:
Run, on and on,
Run, on and on,
The loneliness of the long distance runner.
:music:
