Actually those 15 year olds are more likely to hack into your network
>>

Agreed at least with some 15 year olds that I have known! 😀

hey! Well, I have to admit that I am 15! I have built over 10 systems for friends and all. I have even set up one rambus system, it was expensive! But I thought it was pretty fast. Just not fast enough for me to want to shell out that much cash.

Now why would I want to hack into your network? mwahahahahahahaha.....just kidding

Well, I kinda feel important being the first reply to this thread.🙂 Anyways, wait a sec......rambus?? who??? ahhhh yes, i hear the minority screams fading away now.......

Syborg1211,
The whole 15 year old hacking story for ME came about here in my town of Modesto, Ca. when the local BBS that one called with a modem was very popular. There were a few kids around 14-15 that were quite smart but they used their smarts to destroy at least 20 or more of the BBS's in my area and we back then had over 70 BBS just in the city limits of Modesto alone not to mention the surronding cities! They hacked into the sysop menu and would drop to DOS and format or Fdisk the sysops hard drive. Some were friends of mine and I got accused of being the so called ring leader to a gang of 14 year olds that hacked BBS's. It was an interesting time but I was able to figure out a way to keep them all out and fixed all the BBS's in the area so they could not be hacked into which got me back into the good graces of the local sysops!! It's a funny thing that I got accused also just because I knew the kids involved and helped them with their computer problems. I had this one 15 year old friend who I used to test my work and would let him try his best to get to DOS on my system. I finally with his help made my BBS basically hack proof! He was a dang smart kid when it came to software that's for sure! 😀

Huh?

You sure it started there? When did this happen?

Where I lived back in the early to mid-80's this was a common occurrence too. It just suggested a lack of understanding for BBS security (not that I know anything about security). It probably started much earlier than that in my city, but I wasn't online back before the early 80's so I don't know much about that.
