SDRAM and DDR SDRAM were both selling below cost last month. Suppose it cost a manufacturer $10 to produce the memory and they sold it for $5. Very quickly you end up with manufacturers who need to raise prices! This type of situation has occured with memory, resulting in record losses for some companies. It was just too good (for the consumers) to last.
Demand went up, then supply followed, then the supply surpassed the demand, thus the rock bottom prices.
Because of prices the production or order fulfillment was cut.
Supply fell again, thus prices start to rise to meet the level of demand.
i am so glad i bought my Crucial Special Anandtech deal last month for $27, i checked today it was like Freaking $55
