Fanboy! LOL... WTF, your 16XAA thread got locked. Gah... I wanted to see more beautiful shots.

WTH? That is plenty strange. I suppose the naysayers turned it into such a flamewar it got shut down. 🙁

Sort of like what you and others kept doing to the PureVideo threads. Annoying, isn't it?

With games already out to support Shader Model 3.0 and with more sure to come very soon, the oft denounced technology is now a truly viable feature that gamers should be looking for in a new graphics card. Couple that with SLI, which has been welcomed into the marketplace with open arms despite plenty of doubts cast on its practicality, and it's all but impossible to recommend anything but the 7800GTX when asked for high-end videocard advice.

Now where have I heard that sort of stuff before???????? 😉

Truth is truth. What's so amazing about that? Perhaps Rage3D just isn't as biased as you believed is all. It was definitely a surprise to see an Nvidia reivew on their site, but their conclusions show them to be capable of giving credit where it's due.

I got a feeling that your just pissed off because the "nvidia fanboys" as you call us, were correct in saying, "There is really no reason to buy an ATI card over an nvidia card these days." You kicked and screamed. But we were right. Short of R520 (whenever that gets here) there are no SM3.0 ATI parts in existance.

I have to disagree with you. Just because ATI doesn't have any product that can compete in the extreme high end video card category doesn't mean there's "really no reason to buy an ATI card over an nvidia card these days.". There are still plenty of good ATI products to compete at the rest of the performance/price levels.

Now that the thread is calming down a bit, do you really think your post here was necessary? Or if it even accomplished anything besides releasing steam. The only thing that was worth anything is in bold. I'll keep it civil if you will.

So I guess my post was worthwhile then as you bolded the majority of it. I don't believe I was ranting or blowing off steam. The unbolded part was simply to remind Rollo that he'd done the exact same thing previously so had little reason for complaint.

So do you really believe there's no reason to buy an ATI product these days? I was under the impression that you believed as I do that there are still price/performance levels where ATI would be a better choice than Nvidia.

Well, to try to answer this the best I can. If someone tells me they have, say 150.00 to 200.00 to spend on a PCI-e video card, should I tell them to buy an X700pro? Or a 6600GT. Answer: 6600GT.

200.00 to 300 X800XL? or 6800GT for PCI-e? Used to be X800XL was the answer because it was so much cheaper than the PCI-e 6800GT. But now, there seems to be only a 20 dollar difference, (I'm looking at new egg right now) in which case, of course I would recommend the 6800GT PCI-e.

300 and up X850XTPE or 6800U (again, looking at new egg right now) the 6800U is more expensive than the cheapest X850XTPE (394.00) at 469.00 in PCI-e version. AGP version is X800XTPE (459.00) 6800U (366.00) I recommend the X850XTPE if and only if the user isn't concerned with the lack of features and is only interested in raw speed which the X850XTPE has plenty of. There is nothing biased about this statement although it is easy to mistake it for bias. It's the absolute truth.

So, yes, the only reasons I would ever recommend an ATI card is if user does not mind 3 year old technology lacking features and if it fits narrowly in his/her budget. Actually, there is one more reason. If the user asks "What's the best ATI card I can get for $$".

Actually, Answer is the 12 pipe x800 card at the lower end of this pricerange.

Back to the topic, this review has by far the best presentation I've seen. Great graphs, a 0xaa/16xaf option (which I personally use a lot, I can deal without AA but not AF), superior interface to anything else on the net.

I bought two for $997 thinking I could sell the other on Ebay for a lot more, they usually go for $520 so i'm just selling it to someone for $510, guess i'll make $10.

I think I got a killer killer deal considering they are BFG's.

Ever get the feeling that ATI bandits made off with Rollo's string of camels and favorite concubine somewhere in the distant past?

On a serious note, the rage3d review is well done. If I were du...err, stup...er, insane, yeah, insane enough to drop over $500 on a vidcard right now, I know which one it would be. 🙂

Took the last 3 months off and just started work again last week, have had to put the hardware monkey back in his cage for now.

wow what a flamefest. I can't really blame the flamers as the flame-baiters are just as bad.
How long before someone (and we sure know who it would be) would run to the mods ? If you post flamebait, be ready to take the flames, and don't run to the mods like a !$!#$$

really ? you sure you don't know who alerted the mods and probably asked to ban/lock people ?

The only way to beat rollo is to ignore him. He obviously loves the attention and seems to be having a great time starting flame wars. Dont respond to his posts, and sooner or later he will get bored and decide to troll somewhere else🙂

Maybe if you guys stop with all the flaming comments, I wont have to sift through 8-10 posts at a time that have anything constructive to contribute. :disgust:
