Rage3ds 7800GTX review!

With games already out to support Shader Model 3.0 and with more sure to come very soon, the oft denounced technology is now a truly viable feature that gamers should be looking for in a new graphics card. Couple that with SLI, which has been welcomed into the marketplace with open arms despite plenty of doubts cast on its practicality, and it's all but impossible to recommend anything but the 7800GTX when asked for high-end videocard advice.

Now where have I heard that sort of stuff before???????? 😉

I believe this is the first ever nVidia based card review on Rage3d, a site devoted to ATI.

This is not trolling:
You will see a similar post should nVNews post a huge complimentary review of the R520.

A simple, "Rage3D reviews first ever NV highend card" or something like that, would have been neutral, and non-bias. But we all know you are not neutral and are definatly bias, so I guess its expected.

I got a feeling that your just pissed off because the "nvidia fanboys" as you call us, were correct in saying, "There is really no reason to buy an ATI card over an nvidia card these days." You kicked and screamed. But we were right. Short of R520 (whenever that gets here) there are no SM3.0 ATI parts in existance.

Is in no way inflammatory.

My subject: "The Devil has mittens on, it's snowing in Hell!" is a colorful metaphor to denoting an unlikely occurence, is not either?

Whoppeedoo. I just bought a 7800 GTX and it is having problems. And seems like others are as well.

I haven't had a Nvidia card since GF3 TI300 (which was fine) but my 8500, 9700 Pro didn't give me these kind of problems out of the box. :|

Currently, the card is not giving me any good impressions.

Maybe you're just reacting because of your history with Rollo but nothing about the thread title or caption is inflammatory. Just pretend it wasn't Rollo that started the thread 🙂 I was shocked to see it at first but then Ratchet is relatively neutral so I wasn't that surprised after all.

They were not correct in saying that. Before the 7800GTX came out, the X850XT or PE was faster than the 6800U in most games, in most settings. Making it the better card, to me. The X800XL is still a better choice to me for the money than anything NV has to offer. Its cheaper, and they are virtually the same speed in most games. There is no argument from me that spening $500 on the 7800GTX is better than spending $400 on the X850XT/PE. Unless you have AGP of course, where the 7800GTX is moot. And ATi has plenty of good cards compared to NV.

SM3.0 means nothing, to me today. I dont play one single game with it. The last I played was Farcry, which didnt matter anyways. Yes it will one day mean a great deal probably, but that day is not today, nor anytime soon for me. I wouldnt notice if mine didnt have it at all.
