Rage Against the Machine was the greatest band ever....

i enjoyed tupacs work as an entertainer/movie star more than his rap. he has some classic songs, but his charisma was what made him what he was. id call him one of the most important rappers, but not one of the best.

Rage seems pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things as far as "bands" go. cant really think of ANY from my generation that id consider great (not sure if NIN counts as a band), so i suppose from ~1990 and on id have to go with radiohead. if i was more familiar with bands before then im sure my answer would be different.

the lead singer of RATM it near the top of my list of all time WORST vocalists ever

I hate... HATE his voice. He ruins everything good about RATM.

I like how it's all "F the man, down with capitalism yadda yadda yadda" all while having corporate record deals, corporate sponsorships on tours ect, merchandise in every sell out store around

lol

Rage against the machine is just another group of kids who go : "Oh my F.. god (the F... is for them to look cool) , i have nothing to do.Let's riot !"

Rage against the machine = puke.

It gets more amusing when you know the background of the band members. Although some have experienced unfortunate early loss, it is no justification for how and what they sing. It is just another lady gaga or JB(Justin Bieber)in my opinion.

whatever their background they put their money where their mouth is and perform free shows when it meets their agenda. their purpose is to incite anger and here 20 years later they do a damn fine job of it, and nobody else does (except maybe System).

Yep, pretty much. I was planning to go, saw those prices and remembered I've seen most of the groups performing already and closed the window.

of course it is free. Who would want to listen to them. Even deaf people would ask them to shut up and do something useful.

Well, the last RATM show I went to sold out in 30 seconds (which was a benefit show)

Oh yeah, in regards to "who would want to listen to them"

In recent years, it had become as predictable as elections in North Korea – singer wins X Factor, singer's debut single goes to No 1. So when Joe McElderry won the TV talent contest, he was no doubt confident he would celebrate Christmas at the top of the charts.

Alas for the 18-year-old from South Shields, it wasn't to be: a song almost his own age denied him the top spot after a successful online campaign.

Killing In The Name, an expletive-heavy rock song first released in 1992 by the Californian rock band Rage Against the Machine, won the battle for Christmas top spot on the basis of downloads only. It sold about 500,000 copies last week, about 50,000 more than The Climb, McElderry's earnest ballad.

and then he dropped the F-bombs on live-TV after BBC told him not to. <3 ZDLR

...and then they put on a free concert for London.

You implying we should censor our artists?

Please tell me it is the continuous consumption of vodka that makes him sing like that. Or was it political correct in the USSR to not sing any actual words ? Or was this the only song drunk comrades could sing along with ?

From what I've read on that, the song had lyrics, but the song music composer and the lyricist had a falling out. So they ended up recording it with the trololololalalala lyrics instead 🙂

As does Justin Bieber or Rebecca Black.

Of course not. I am stating that i find RATM = puke.
It does seem to explain why every single person i have met that loves RATM i do not get along with because mostly these people yell freedom but want everything their way and their way only. I am still having hope that this will not be a constant in life. ^_^

Addendum :

Censorship should only take place when the text gets obscene or is clearly invoking people to hurt others.

what's your point? your statement was "who would want to listen to RATM"

BTW, the difference between RATM and JB is in 20 years nobody will give a fuck who Bieber is.

LOL, most people don't give a fuck about RATM today, so what's the difference?

selling out shows in 30 seconds and headling everything they're at proves that theory wrong

In addition to the free gig at Finsbury Park, the band headlined European festivals in June 2010 including the Download Festival at Donington Park, England, Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in Germany and Rock in Rio Madrid in Spain

Oh, and being the #1 single in the UK some 18 years after the song was released is a nice badge of honor too.

If it is in the UK, it would be a badge of honour. 🙂

I saw them a couple of times back in the 90's when they were decent. I certainly wouldn't waste money on seeing them today though. To each his own.
