There were at least two times, though, when the man stepped outside of his conservative persona that I will always remember.
In 1970, he came out against the Vietnam War on air, and in 1993 his "Rest of the Story" illuminated how US business interests, "down in the shadowy realms where U.S. foreign policy shakes hands with the devil," conspired to overthrow the legal ruler of Hawaii, Queen Liliuokalani.
Paul Harvey was and will always remain an American icon.
