How does that have anything to do with performance? How do you know it runs cooler than the GeForce FX series?Originally posted by: trashboxRadeon (GPU) is much more cooler that GeForce FX
Usually nVidia drivers are better than ATi, but not that much. ATi has improved though.Radeon has better drivers & Software Support than Geforce FX
Huh? I see you have absolutely no clue about graphics cards.ATI don't clock there GPU to the max But Geforce Clock there GPU to the MAX
Pretty much a feature in Windows XP that enables your system to reboot in case a program crashes.ATI Has program there Video card if the Video card hang the video card will restart the card
If you buy video cards based on these features, would you like to buy my Diamond Viper S220 (Rendition V2200) since it's cooler, smaller, and cool looking? 🙂Cooler smaller heatshink Better look

That's WHY the FX5900 runs so darn hot... to compensate for its lower performance, it had to be clocked MUCH higher.

um..... 😕 I don't think so... restarting a card WITHOUT rebooting is not quire the same as rebooting when a program crashes. 😉

Again, prove how it is running hotter. Unless you got a 5800 Ultra on your hands, you have nothing to show for it.

Again, you have no evidence of any sort. The GeForce FX series were manufactured at 0.13 micron, thus allows it to run at higher speeds. The Radeon 9700/9800 are manufactured at 0.15 micron and the 9800XT is pretty much at the speed limit without any voltage modifications.

Restarting a video card results in the computer being rebooted unless the OS manages to contain and shut down the *crash*. Since my ATi Radeon 9800 Pro crashed a couple times last week, the OS rebooted the system and reported that the Radeon 9800 was the cause of it. Hmm....unless you have a magic feature in your card, this ain't happening here.

In this day and age where computers are only getting physically smaller, why would you want a 2-or-3 slot cooling "solution"? More fans = more noise, too. You may not use your PCI slots, but I certainly do, and I won't sacrifice them for unnecessary fans.

If you're talking about a HTPC, then small is good for you. I haven't seen big cases go out of style at all lately so unless you're speaking of another planet, then I have no idea. As for fans, not everyone has super sensitive hearing like you do and I have five and they don't bother me. Even if you need all your PCI slots, I'm sure you're aware that it's recommended to leave a PCI slot (nearest the AGP) open even for the 9800 Pro. Oh, another thing is that the 5800 Ultra can exhaust the heat from the card while the 9800 doesn't (so where does that heat go?) I'll leave it to you to figure that out. For a diamond member, you don't impress me very much.
