Generally speaking, the Radeon VE is not the same as the Radeon LE. The VE is not really a gaming card. It was developed as ATIs solution as a dual display card. You can check out Anand's review of the VE
here. You'll notice that both the GeForce2 MX and the Radeon
SDR outperform it in almost every category. This tells you that the VE is not a gaming card. However, if you want dual display for a cheap price, this is a decent deal. Or you can check out the Matrox G450 at Newegg for $71 (16MB) to $93 (32MB) shipped
here. Matrox is a great producer of dual display technology.
As for a good
budget gaming card, you can try the 32MB Radeon LE at Newegg for $77 shipped or the 64MB Hercules Prophet 4500 Kyro II at Newegg for $116 shipped. Both are great budget cards with a lot of potential. Anand's review of the LE can be found
here. You'll see that the LE is almost as good as the 32 MB Radeon DDR once the HyperZ Technology is unlocked. Oh yeah, and it destroys the Radeon VE when it comes to gaming. The review of the Kyro II can be found
here. Again, you'll see exceptional performance for a great price once you consider that it keeps company with the likes of the GeForce2 GTS, Pro, and Ultra. Well, that's my two cents.
