If this is real I'll be getting one in a few days, unless everyone's prices suddenly fall too. The reseller ratings seem okay, albeit with only 23 reviews.

edit: fixed link

I'm going to agree with Dave. The 9800 non-pro retails for $300 and there's no reason the 9800 Pro would sell this cheap. If you do end up getting a 9800 Pro, congratulations, because this is a mistake on their part.

I don't think the 9800 non-pro has made it's way to retail locations. They are usually just found in Dells right now from what I understand. If it's a pro, it's a hot deal. If it's non-pro, you don't really gain anything from a 9700 pro.

Does it matter whether it's and ATI-made card or if it's ATI/Saphire made?
What would the difference between the two cards if there's any?

There would be no difference in the cards. Same clock speeds and all.

I think it's clocked the same as a 9700pro but due to advances in architecture, ect. it is a little faster. There's should be reviews abounding...do a search.

Clock speeds are the same but it does have some optimizations that make a wee bit faster but nothing really noticeable.

I jumped! And I left comments to cancel the order if the card is actually a non-pro.

I should know in a few days I guess...

...thanks for the tip Sideswipe :)

Best Buy and Newegg are carrying them (Newegg = Sapphire brand).

QUANT. DESCRIPTION UNIT PRICE AMOUNT
1 ATI RADEON 9800 ATLANTIS PRO 128MB TV-out DVI(#1486) $299.00 $299.00

SUBTOTAL: $299.00
7.75% CA SALES TAX: $0.00
GROUND SHIPPING: $7.00
MAST************ TOTAL: $306.00

Looks real good to me. I was trying to get the 9700pro for $250 at BestBuy but they didn't have any left and they don't look like they'll be getting any. I have a 9500pro but it's got the rolling bars which you can control with moire adjustment but then you get a shimmer in the background for light colors like lite grey. I understand that the 9800pro does not have this problem but some 9700pro's do, so I think the 9800pro is the way to go for me. FWIW I got an RMA from ATI but the card they sent me had the same problem and slower ram so kept the one I had. I had an open box plus a coupon so I couldn't bring it back and I'd already sold my old vidcard.

Is this just as good as the 9800 Pro with 256mb of memory?

Darn, I want this!

Well don't forget this is the ATLANTIS Radeon 9800 Pro, I just checked Newegg myself to see if they carry that card, and they don't. So any picture you are comparing from there is a card from another manufacturor, and often they change around some colors and placement, some add heatsinks, etc, so that their card looks different from the competition.

This card looks better with the heatsink and all, then the Sapphire shown on Newegg.

WIth newegg's pictures, I can't see any difference bewteen the Pro's and Non Pro's. Come Monday, I'm going to give them a call right when I get home from school. IF this is real, I'm ordering Monday this card so hopefully it willl be here before end of this week.
