Just getting a thread up for this. Navi 24 will ride... Q1 2022... ish.

I fugure the 6500XT lands ~5500XT territory for ~$200.

Yes.

You have 4 GB VRAM on a 64 bit bus. Each 8 MB slice in N23 and N24 is connected to 32 bit bus.

6300 has 8 MB IC - 32 bit bus, and 2 GB VRAM buffer.
6400 has 64 bit bus, and 4 GB of VRAM? 16 MB IC, then.

Ok here we go, i dont have any new AAA titles to test so this does not represent in any way modern AAA gaming. Also avg fps does not tell the whole story, with the 10100F (and pci-e 3.0) i was having issues in some games with fps going to single digits for a short time every now and then, this is a clear pcie bandwidth issue, for example with RDR2, when Arthur is running out of the store and he shoots the first guard, fps drops to nothing in that moment, every time. Something that does not happens on the same system with a 11400. And i know it is the pcie and not the CPU because it also happens with the 4700S were i did some tests with the 6500XT a few weeks ago. Assessin creed Origins is another game that is severely affected by pcie bandwidth, even trough VRAM should be enoght.

I know it's a bit meh, but any chance of Timespy , FS as a point of reference ?

RX 6400XL, ships from China, in-stock at $279.99.

Appears to be single-slot low-profile capable! I see a lot of "RDNA2-enabled" OEM boxes turned into budget gaming PCs soon. Resellers of refurb PCs, are going to buy loads of these kind of cards.

Edit: Throw it into a 3770 SFF rig with 8GB RAM for $140, you've got yourself a gaming PC.

Edit: I wonder, because of the CPU disparity, if it might just be better to get with Rembrant APU (RDNA2 APU) rigs if budget buildig new. Although the existance of a single-slot low-profile card that will hopefully do 1080P on modern games will certainly help keep a portion of those rigs out of the landfill.

Edit:
Now mentioned.

Is 32-bit really accurate? The last time AMD/ATI released a 32-bit GPU predates the acquisition. Even the DDR3/4 cards have been 2 chips.

Yup, it is just a desktop version of the RX 6300M...
64GB/s this thing has to perform below RMB IGP for sure. Ill say... RX560 level?

Far too many desktop versions of a GPU never intended to be released on desktop huh?

There are two versions? Haven't heard about an XL anywhere.

Should make a decent IGP-replacement for IGP-less Ryzens.

RX6400 core is actually called Navi 24 XL, the RX6500XT core is called Navi 24 XT.

Along with a R5 3600 and a cheap B550 mb is a decent combo, but here is were artificially limiting PCI-E 4.0 on AM4 comes back to bite AMD. At the very least the A520 should be PCI-E 4.0. Intel has it on the H510.

I know it's a bit meh, but any chance of Timespy , FS as a point of reference ?

ill check tomorrow if i still have the gpu.

Techpowerup review is up, RX6400 same performance with PCIe 4.0 vs GTX1650

I would really like to see a Low Profile RX6400 vs GTX1650 LP on a refurbished SFF system with PCIe 3.0 review

Well this video from ETA Prime has the RX 6400 LP tested on two systems, first an i9-12900K and then an Lenovo system with ryzen 3 4300G, as well as a comparison with 1650 LP. The video has timestamps so you can seek ahead to the parts that you want to watch. The lenovo system testing starts at 06:30 :)

I appreciate him calling out the dim bulbs complaining about it being $150. For most of the last 2yrs, a 1030 has been selling for that.

RGinHD tested the 6400 with 4.0, 3.0, and a i7 2600 2.0 setup. A few more adjustments with res and settings would yield a better experience. As would using a VRR monitor.

Wendell took another look at the 6500XT. His analogy is a onion stuffed with peanut butter. LOL.

Bad analogy. It costs a lot more than onion and peanut butter. It's a poor bunny with a smashed foot. Has everything it needs to go fast but hampered by the mangled foot.

Wendell also seems to lose his mind whenever he talks about the 6500XT/6400 as in that video he calls the 3060 Ti a "knee jerk responce to the 6700XT" despite it coming out months earlier.

I like your analogy about the bunny. Particularly since it beats the Nvidia turtles it is racing against. Unlike the bunny in the fable. ;)

As things are at the moment, I would advise buyers to save up and get a 6600 since it is so close to MSRP now. But for those that need the card now, or for whom that extra $100 or so is the CPU money, it is still the best choice.

When the 6500xt is run at settings that keep the 4GB limit in mind, it is easily the best NIB 1080p card at $200. Another new video. This time with overclocking.
