.....overrated..
Seriously, I'm tired of all the attention that racism gets in the media. Other forms of discrimination are FAR more prevalent than racism. Gender discrimination is the oldest and most ingrained form of discrimination, yet even that takes a backseat to racism.
Then there's the big daddy of them all, ethnic discrimination. Racism pales in comparison to ethnic discrimination as far as lives lost or affected, but racism is putatively regarded as the most unjust and immoral form of discrimination.
So the question is why is this so? Is it white guilt? Thats the only reason I can think of..
Yet even the slavery of Africans had no basis racism, at least not initially. Europeans used Africans as slaves not because they were black or of a different race, but because their culture and society were vastly inferior; which was due to being isolated. The African's tribal infrastructure, primitive culture and lack of Scientific knowledge caused the Europeans to view them as innately inferior which then gave rise to racism. In essence however, cultural discrimination was the true culprit which provided the impetus for racism against blacks to exist..
Does anyone truly believe that Europeans would have enslaved Africans, had the Africans been at a similar, or greater level of cultural and Scientific advancement as they?
I think not. Regardless of skin color or ethnicity, power and intellectual achievement are always respected. You saw this when apartheid South Africa granted the Japanese the title of "Honorary Whites" to facilitate trade. The advancement of the Japanese culture was such, that they could not but view them as equals.
So until Africans or blacks collectively evolve to a similar level of cultural advancement as Europeans, racism towards blacks will continue to exist.
So am I crazy to think such thoughts? And if anyone is curious, I am half black myself. :awe:
