Sorry if I don't consider gawker or the guy any more credible than Breitbart. If the guy listed on the birth certificate is not is biological father, that should be extremely easy to establish.
Sure they can, at least I think so. Apparently not everyone agrees that a white person can even be a part of the black lives matter movement, let alone lead it.
Your skin color shouldn't determine what you can do, but lying about yourself and your experiences destroys your credibility and that of the organization or group you're trying to lead. If he's not lying, then there's no issue.

And that's the thing. When Dolezal was pretending to be black, she very clearly had two white parents and identified as white at least through high school. It was obviously a lie to claim she was black. But this guy? It looks like he legitimately grew up being told he was biracial by his mother, and potentially facing racist bigotry because of it in his youth. There's nothing to indicate that he "knew" he was white and perpetrated a ruse to gain an advantage not otherwise available. From a strictly subjective standpoint, old pictures of him certainly make him look like a biracial kid to my eyes. So even if it turns out that he is white, I wouldn't be at all shocked to learn that he legitimately believes that he is biracial or has been the victim of bigotry in the past. That's completely different than someone who is knowingly lying about their origins.
That said, seeing as how the primary source of the allegation is Breitbart, yeah, that dude is black. The next time Breitbart prints something true, not only will it be the first time, but they'll immediately print a retraction and then blame their oversight on Muslims.

That was part of the story proven to be complete fabrication, they pulled the actual police reports and literally nothing there fit the narrative he was pitching. Had that not been the case, I'd give him the benefit of doubt that his birth cert doesn't have his biological father on it. But as it stands, it seems he's making up bullshit for the cause.

I really feel bad for the guy now (and this is completely independent of his politics or activism which I don't really know that much about having not heard of him before this). I wish someone in the media that ran the expose made extensive to make sure they gave him every opportunity to give an explanation privately before running with this. It could have prevented him having to publish such a private story. Even if exposes are always a risk as a public figure of sorts he had to also expose his family, particularly his mother (putting aside whatever fault she may have had in this).
I personally feel pretty embarrassed to not have even considered the possibility that the man on his birth certificate wasn't his biological father until others here mentioned it and I saw the pictures of him as a child. I guess I figured that if this was a known fact to him it wouldn't have stayed on the birth certificate, but I should have known better that that's not how things often work.

How about people don't go submitting themselves to DNA tests like on Maury just because a website with a long history of deliberate lies puts out yet another false story?

Other witnesses to that event support his telling of it and explain why a police report might have minimized what happened.

Err what I read was there was one teacher and she didn't actually see what happened. Either way it's at best anecdotal vs actual hard evidence; given the wide spread of the claims and data and incentives to make such claims,I'm inclined to believe the latter.
Unless your personal bias is getting in the way, occham's razor should apply here.

Why? Literally a win-win here - he gets vindicated AND cash.
Per game theory, the only reason he wouldn't do is if he suspect there's a chance it won't go in his favor.

There's a thread of like 8 million posts where this has been addressed ad nauseum. Martin was not under any obligation to obey any commands from zimmerman, that is correct. It also has nothing to do with the case. Zimmerman does not need probable cause or any reason to approach and question Martin, just as Martin doesn't have to pay any attention to him. The evidence showed Martin at some point attacked Zimmerman. Zimmerman responded to the attack with deadly force. Case closed.
His account includes being beaten half to death by a group of rednecks, yet the police report indicates minor injuries from a one on one fight. The report also indicates his race as white.
Seems like he's making up stuff to gain credibility, but it's also absolutely possible his father is not the guy listed on the birth certificate.
