I just got nailed by Monarch, and I was wondering what the deal was. I placed an order on Nov 20th for a couple of systems totalling over $2800, and after a couple of automatic emails, heard nothing. I called last week and got infinite hold. I called today and the phone says they are 'closed'. Of course, their website does not reveal such critical info. I had such good experiences with Monarch in past years. They were a paragon of computer builders. I guess I should have checked the forums first. It's such a shame that you cannot just count on a company's reputation, that you have to keep checking to see if someone ruined the company or not.

Regarding Mr. Fox's tone, perhaps he is a bit defensive, but if you have ever been screwed by a company, your tone might be more strident than his. He is doing a service. We NEED to know the actual state of these companies, and it is hopefully forums like these that can provide the 'inside skinny' on what is actually going down inside a company. That was what I was seeking when I came here. THAT is what will make companies more honest, and that is one of the great promises of the Web as an information resource.

I realize that you have to discipline members that do not show correct netiquette, but my recommendation is to stick to the knitting and provide info about vendors.

That is a shame, I've used monarch in the past because they always seemed to have the best prices and I didn't have trouble with them.

I too have warned people about Monarch, but I did not do it with the commitment that you did. I say well done Mr Fox.

I too started warning people when I had issues myself 2 months ago. Sad to see them go, but their service over this last year has been horrid.

It is a shame if they go under. They were the best place to get Lian-Li cases locally in Atlanta, as well as an authorized AMD partner/reseller. They also generally stocked the best parts of any local retailer.

My only complaint about them was the "warrantee" policy they adopted about a year ago where they basically charged you extra for an "extended warrantee" that actually only gave you the same coverage normally provided by retailers. If you didn't buy the extra coverage you had to deal directly with the manufacturer, so even if you got a DOA part you couldn't bring it back to the them. Basically, the moment you paid for your parts, you were on your own unless you paid them extra for basic warrantee service.

for those who want to know. I actually went to their store a couple of days ago. there was "out of business" sign on front and it was locked. some guys i met coming out told me they were in trouble and being bought by another company. they were packing things up and would not be there two or three weeks from then. however they were still there selling products !!!!! that is not heresay..that is fact !!! spread the word...

What Monarch was doing was borderline Criminal... I had nothing to do with Monarch's behavior there... I was not a part of their management team.

Just someone that gave a damn about his fellow man...
