I recieved my X800 Pro on Monday and not more then 1 hour later it was giving me "artifacts" Text would change to a pinkish color and the colors in my games would all flash different colors then crash. I saw little pink dots on the desktop and what not. I'll be returning it to Best Buy soon and I'm going to wait for the X800 XT, with the Pro I was able to run FarCry maxed out at 1600X1200 with 4xAA, 4xAF and it brought a tear to my eye. I'm on a 3.0C P4 with Kingston HyperX memory.

Yeah that's pretty funny stealing $400 from Best Buy isn't it, Jagec? What the heck, they have lots of money, right?

Disgusting.

Did you correctly uninstall and install the Catalysts? It sounds more like a software issue than hardware.

If you don't have a GPU driver-free image lying down, I suggest you do a complete reinstall before returning the product.

Yep I completely uninstalled Cat 4.4's and used Driver Cleaner before installing the X800 Pro. I even tried it on another PC and it was giving me artifacts in the BIOS screen and the Windows loading screen before even getting into the OS to install drivers. All the speeds are at stock, I haven't overclocked it at all.

Best Buy has no policy about overclocking voiding your right to return the product. In fact their salesmen have specifically told me I can return it even if I messed it up. If you buy the service plan they will replace it no matter what you did to it.

I thought there was an overclocking utility on the set-up CD?

Sorry about your loss

Actually, some stores really do have that kind of policy. I bought my headphones at a Radio Shack with the service plan, and I broke it when I stuffed it in my backpack after about a year of use, and they replaced it no questions asked. Another store I know that does this, or at least used to, is EB, whom I bought my Dreamcast from. I didn't buy their plan because I take care of my gaming systems pretty well, but they said I could spill juice in my system or something and break it and they would replace it for free.

It wouldn't matter to me if they ordered me to do it.

I only want what I've paid for, and if I've broken something by my error or misuse, I don't want warranty service. Lots of people used to be this way, not so many anymore.

Who pee'd in your cherrios?

It's much more likely that he just got a bad card, considering he only had it running for an hour.

I find it disgusting that you're disgusted ;)

True Story

Bought a crapy card for over the holidays put it in and it literily started to smoke and the resistors glowed red. No JOKE! Put it in the box and took it back to best buy. He asked "Why are you returning it" I replied "It didn't work" He gave me store credit and I bought a new one. Ah Memories!

I am in pc sales at best buy and you're all right except rollo, with a service, we love you. Do whatever you want to it...it was your extra $$ that paid my wages and paid the CEO's loft in Hawaii.

well if the product is defective... it's not anyone's fault but MAYBE ATi's.
let Best Buy send it back to ATi... no biggie.

I haven't said anything at all to the original poster.

I commented on Jagec's wink and assumption he had OCd to death prior to returning it.

If you have a problem with me stating my disapproval of people condoning burning up high end video cards for usually tiny performance gains , your opinion has been noted.
