I can, but I am an adult, so sad this music is marketed towards "childreN" (10-15)

Who can pick up "adult advisory" cd's when they're not supposed to and the clerk doesn't give a damn.

Look at my article above.

Turn the TV off and Watch what your children are buying.

Parents with Responsibilty for their children FTW.

Yup - that gets my vote. Follow them to the store everytime they go, check their pockets, search their rooms, set up a monitoring program on the computer, get them secretly drug tested weekly, keep very close contact with their teachers (accept nothing under A+), install secruity cameras/baby monitors to spy if neccesary, - in fact, hire an undercover child detective to follow them around school and make sure they do nothing wrong - like *gasp* listen to Biggie.

You're right. What we need is a G-rated society. Nevermind that everyone over 18 would feel like they were in a preschool class; we must think of the children! Everyone in our society should bear the brunt of raising them, it's for the common good. Parenting is hard these days, what with great, distracting entertainment on TV (like people eating slugs!) and work and such. But that shouldn't stop people from having children. Nor should lack of money. We should outlaw all cars, since children might not know enough to look both ways before crossing - and who can be bothered teaching them that anyway?

Hmm, wanna know why I dislike most rap? Anyone? It's probably because (as a poster said above) the music is full of self-promoting garbage, and talk of violence. I know these things are in the genre of music that I listen to, I just don't care for the way they are presented by most rappers. I would walk away from someone while they were talking if the only subject was how big and bad they are. Who the hell cares, right? But if you have a "dope beat" (a.k.a. 1/100th of actual music), then it's suddently art, and even moreso if it only repeats 2 or 3 measures of "dope beat."

As a musician, I find it hard to beleive that people actually consider rap music. My personal position, is that it's storytelling. Some rappers have been bestowed titles that were indicative of them being poets, and others have released books of poetry. I think that rap is just largely miscategorized.

As a listener, I don't enjoy anyone talking about how much of a whore the girl they slept with last night was, how big their d*ck is, or how much money they have. It's largely full of traits that most civilized societies would consider annoying and/or undesirable. I'm not one to go with the mainstream culture, but I find the black counterculture to be the least impressive. Yes, I can speak poetry about killing prostitutes. Much better than complex rhyme schemes, and intricate melodies with appropriate percussion.

Maybe I'm just letting my brain get in the way. I like to be an active listener, and rap challenges noone mentally. I'm sorry, but that's how I feel about rap. I listen to certain types of rock, a small amount of punky-type music, and a median amount of classical music. I also dislike country for musical style preference differences. (not the same reasons listed for rap, obviously)

bolded cause you're a fvcking idiot

As with everything else in today's society, the blame goes everywhere but ourselves. People don't kill other people - the Grand Theft Auto games do! Whoops, spilled coffee on yourself? It's not your fault! Sue the place you bought it from and win millions! Etc. etc. If a kid can't listen to "gangsta rap" (quoted because it's such a small segment of the Rap genre), watch MTV, or play GTA without emulating them, that's a sign of serious issues, and generally can be traced to bad parenting. You can't bubble up kids, you have to teach them about the world and how to swim rather than sink in it. Should we stop teaching them about the crusades in history class while we're at it? What if they go on a religious crusade after History 101? :Q:roll: Because honestly, that's what I've gotten out of "gangsta rap" - a learning experience. A look into an interesting and sad culture far different from my own. It didn't make me turn my hat to the side, I haven't gone out and bought baggy pants, I haven't "busted a cap" (in fact, most of the hillbilly rap haters in this thread probably shoot guns more than rappers; I've never even fired one in my life). And whether or not I agree with the message, I won't deny obvious talent when I hear it.

good points man, but its useless to try and reason with someone who doesnt think there's a way of thinking other than their own. If they truly believe the bullsh1t they spout, its better that they stay sheltered and not ever see whats outside of their pathetic sphere.

being book smart has nothing to do with being weak minded which your older brother, who is older that you, clearly is.

Also, I guess you turned out fine, but there's still a huge discrepency in your common sense.

You're the one that is, since people are mocking your idiocy.

Simply put if a child wants to hide something from you, he will. Chances are if he wants to get into things you never did(Which 99 percent of parents never did) then you will NOT find out where he hides his stuff.

How the hell would you know if you were some soccer mom not suspected your son shooting up heroine with his Ivy league friends? You wouldn't, because social apperceptions are everything MOM

If you're gonna say something about a thread, could you please read the thread before posting in it? If you read even the first couple of pages you would have realized that there actually ARE people who care about "biggie smalls" and the other worthless thugs - who do you think started this thread in the first place? And thanks for the bump, BTW.
