Quran burned at ground zero

Quick! Crucify this person to appease moderate Muslims everywhere.

Edit: I guess he was cited for public burning?

I have to agree with Spidey, he did it the right way. Made all those jackasses shouting at him seem like douches.

Well one American will not stand silent. Should be interesting if this hits the news tonight.

I placed an order for a Koran through Amazon today then went back and canceled the order. That's how we burn books in the digital age.

In America we have many rights and among them is the right to be a dick, and sure enough that's what people will do.

Someone once remarked to Solzhenitsyn that it must have been awful to have been imprisoned in the gulags and have lost his freedom for all those years. His response was that he may have been captive but he was always free.

This fellow may be expressing himself freely but he's a captive to his hate.

Normal human beings > Muslim radicals > Quran burner > AT asses.

You would put people who stone women and suicide bomb ahead of someone who burns a piece of paper with letters on it.

You are a sick fuck.

I might have to go burn one now just to get the thought of your fat lazy smug ass sitting in your mom's basement out of my head.

I'm glad the guy in the video sent this big fuck you to Craig. If Craig was a respectable his putting muslim extremists above quran-burnings would sig worthy.

BUT he has a Right to be an asshat if he so desires. Just like the insensitive muslims building the mosque.

Please post the names and quotes of every person on AT who said he does not have the right to be an asshat. Oh ya, there are zero, you are making a straw man cluelessly.

Still not on any major news site. May be getting suppressed for a few more hours. The comments on the video are great reads though.

They still won't use images or charactures of Mohamed. What makes anybody think they would actually show this?

Funny thing is if he was burning a cross or the flag it would be all over the news and celebrated as his free speech. This man is a true patriot.

Did you just imply that guy is worse than people who strap bombs on and blow up innocent women, children and themselves?

Fuck that, like it or not freedom isn't always pretty. I'll be damned if I am gonna give up freedom because some people might get pissy about it. The Bill of Rights isn't there to protect the popular rights/speech, it is to protect the unpopular ones. It is no different than burning the flag, except we don't strap on bombs and blow ourselves, and others, up if someone burns the flag.

If Muslims want to be here, and they have every right to be and to practice their religion here, then they can deal with our freedoms. If they don't like it, fuck em. I have consistently said that instead of protesting the mosque near ground zero they should buy the adjacent building and display the winner of "draw Mohammad days" picture as large and as publicly as possible. I don't care about their feelings and they don't care about mine.

As far as soldiers potentially being put in harms way because of our exercise of freedom, I commend and thank them for putting their lives on the line to protect our freedoms. As horrible as a single US soldier dying over this sounds I bet those soldiers would bravely accept that instead of the alternative. Freedom isn't free.

Exactly. BTW thanks for the props. As a serviceman, most of us find this hilarious. Honestly the worst possible outcome of this would be a very target rich environment, all of them acting in accordance with our ROE. The General is simply playing politics since his predecessor was shit canned.

Liberty was never threatened. The man was just an asshat.

Burning the Koran was such a "threat" that the President of the United States and the Defense Secretary personally got involved to stop some asshat pastor and his flock of 50 from burning them. Their reason was threats of violence if he exercised his free speech rights. Sure as hell sounds like a threat against the practice of one of our freedoms to me and it sure as hell sounds like the people running this country believed the threats to be valid.

Wasn't he talking about the person in the video?

The guy did something disrespectful to innocent people.

Some posters on AT pointed this out.

PCgeek responded that he 'has the right to be an asshat', as if he was responding to people saying he did not 'have the right'.

No one said he did not have the right. They said he did something wrong he has a right to.

He avoided the issue of it being wrong with a straw man about rights. Clear it up?
