dunno, but i'm talking about cigars...

Are you addicted to the nicotine or just the act of smoking? Are you inhaling cigars?

Congratulations. Ask your friends and co-workers for assistance. Ask them to not smoke around you, ask them to remind you NOT to if you ever mentino having the urge, etc. Most people (evne those who smoke themselves) will help someone trying to quit.

Keep up the good work.

For some people, they can quit smoking whenever they want and never have to smoke a cigarrette again. As much as they admit to how bad it is for you and how gross it is, some still just do it because they love the habit. I also quit smoking like you. Since I've already had an anxiety problem, it just hits me randomly and I get a sudden craving for a cig. I went from a pack a day to 1 pack in 2 months. I do feel tired and weak sometimes, but that's what cold turkey does to you. Do I love smoking? I do really enjoy it, but it's just something I should learn to not enjoy. There's nothing good about it.

Oh, and as for cigars, I'll still smoke them, though I only do it like once a year. Cigars are bad for you, but they're not physically addicting. More-so, I don't quit doing things just because they are bad for my health. I dislike them or quit them if it gets me addicted. Addiction is worse, because harms you more in the long run.

I dreamed about smoking for the first year, I'm almost to my second year now.

Just get rid of everything that reminds of you smoking.

Dude, I quit cold turkey 12 days ago....Day 4 was the first day I started pulling out of the insanity and actually started feeling ok again. Keep going...tomorrow and after that it'll be so much better. I think I'm totally over the chemical part and already feel a LOT better than before. Just stay away from smokers and you'll be fine.

Keep it up bro. I'm in about 4-5 months, You'll keep having cravings, but they will get progressively easier and easier to deal with...

How are you doing it?

Cold turkey?
Patch?
Gum?
Zyban?
Other?

I "quit" once before this time, and only lasted about 5 months, I made the mistake of thinking, "I can have just one" I really couldn't... that led to a 3 year relapse. My motto now is, "Not even a puff...NEVER" I'm not taking any chances, this time it's for good.

How I did it:

1. Got a prescription for Zyban (I got the generic)
2. Started taking 2x daily for about 2 weeks prior to my "quit date"
3. Bought a Package of Nicoderm CQ patches
4. Bought a Package of Nicorette gum
5. Bought a bottle of Cinnamon Sticks
6. Told everyone I know that I was quitting, and when.
7. On my "Quit Date" I woke up, put on the patch, and smoked my last cigarette.
8. I kept a stash of the gum at home, at work, and in my car... The few times that the cravings were so bad that I was about to smoke, I went for the gum, and that did the trick.
9. I chewed cinamon sticks, and pretended I was "smoking" them, to deal with the "habit" part
10. The zyban worked for the mental addiction
11. the patch pretty much killed the physical addiction, with the help of some gum every now and then.
12. The patch program has 3 steps, but I only needed 1 1/2
13. I still keep a little stash of gum when I go somwhere where I'll be drinking, or where alot of people will be smoking, just in case ;) (I haven't needed the gum in months tho)

Keep up the good work, you CAN do this!
