The fan on this 1055T really screams. Here is my system:

nMEDIAPC Black Aluminum HTPC case (by the way I love this mATX case because there is tons of room, and I can put 4 3.5" or 2.5" Hard drives, 1 internal DVD drive, and every front port imaginable under a hidden pop out door, and the fans are silent. height 5.4", width 17", depth 16.3"). There is about 2" of space above the CPU cooling fan, and it will fit full height graphics cards.

This cooler master is so silent, at one point I was afraid the fan wasn't working, but it was. This is a bottom sucking PSU but I was able to install it upside down with no problems (case has vents on the top above the PSU).

I'm using the on board video until I find something I like on sale, and I'm still deciding on what quiet SATA hard drive to buy.

I also have a second exact system that I built at the same time, the only difference is the case.
Rosewill R101-P-BK 120mm Fan MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case

depth 15", width 7.5", and height 13.8"

Anyway, if you guys can recommend a more quiet heatsink/fan that will fit in the above listed case, please let me know as I'm heading out to frys to look at hard drives, monitors, keyboards, mice, and video cards this afternoon.

Thanks,

Tom

Ya, it's freakin LOUD. It's the same sized Fan they used on the X2 3800 FFS, AMD needs to skip a few Fan Sizes already.

I bought the Silenx IXC 120HA2, it is very quiet and was $35. It's also easily mounted and is properly orientated unlike most Cooling solutions within that price range.

Couldn't find it at Newegg.

Oh and check the # of fan posts you need. I had to get a 3.5" fan controller since that MSims boardhas only 2

Hey Darth Nader, does your case have room for a Noctua NH-D14? Quietest heavy-duty air cooler I know of.

I also just got the Phenom II X5 1055t and it is running a little hot with the Zalman CNPS7000C-AlCu. It turns out that this HSF is rated up to 90W and the 1055t processor is 125W. I love the fan b/c it's very quiet, but I don't think these temps are good for the CPU.

At idle (rpms manually throttle):
1800RPM - 43C
1300RPM - 47C

Under load (3+ minute test using Prime95):
2250RPM - 69C

I have been doing a lot of video encoding so my CPU is maxed out fairly often. I'm looking for a recommendation from someone that has this CPU for a cooler load temperature. superccs recommended a Arctic Cooling Freezer and I'm looking ath the Freezer 64 Pro (it's rated up to 130W CPUs). Has anyone used this? Any other recommendations? I'm looking for something quiet.

Thanks in advance!

The H50 is supposed to be great, but I'm not so sure I want to spend more cash. Unless of course I'm doing harm to the CPU. I don't think I am, but any opinions are welcome.

Strange the stock cooler on my sons 1090t is pretty quiet or perhaps its drowned out by the other fans. In any matter his system isn't that loud even when gaming.

I cool mine passively with a Scythe Mugen 2. That's about as quiet as one can get.

I doubt that something that big would fit in a case that small. Trade-offs....

You really should co some thing. and soon. That is just way too hot. I run my 1055t at 3.6 on stock cooler and get up to 44 in prime95. IMO, sooner or later your going to damage that cpu.

i'm debating getting the H50 and setting it up with dual fans. i'm a little leery of prying off the Zalman and cleaning the chip. i've never done that before.

Your gonna kill your proc with that junky cooler. Seriously thats the aluminum version of one of the worst coolers ever made.....that thing sucked 2000 when it was new...

69°C under load is not too hot for a CPU to handle. CPUs (and GPUs) are designed to be able to handle really hot operational temperatures.

Intel CPU, no it's not all that bad, AMD CPU, that's hot as hell, especially since AMD temp reporting on the Thubans is reporting about 10C cooler than it's actually running (for instance my Thuban shows running at 22C at idle).

just took this screenshot at idle. so if this is too hot, i'm torn on what to do. i can go with the stock HSF. Massive is saying the H50 is loud, is that from the pump or fans? Cogage Arrow looks interesting, and enormous. I think it would fit in my case, standard ATX.

My CPU is TMPIN1

One was a scythe 38x120 and I forget what the other one was. The imporant thing is that they had to be ran at annoying speeds in order to cool properly. Gettning silent fans isn't going to help if it's going to cause overheating.
