Quietest Heatsink/Fan for an AMD Phenom II x6 1055T

I cool mine passively with a Scythe Mugen 2. That's about as quiet as one can get.

I doubt that something that big would fit in a case that small. Trade-offs....

You passively cool a 1055t? What kinda temps do you get with that?

69°C under load is not too hot for a CPU to handle. CPUs (and GPUs) are designed to be able to handle really hot operational temperatures.

Page 58 gives Tcase max 62C. I thought that was the line not to cross with the 125w X6 CPU? That doc gives lots of good info on values for p-states also. When I have a bit more time i'm gonna sit down with an app like msphenomtweaker??? and have some fun.

edit: temp sensors are usually 7-10 degrees off also.

Thanks for the tips guys. I think I'm going to go with the COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus and maybe put a second fan on it. It's cheap, quiet and has gotten good reviews.

OIC. Guess I should fiddle with AMD chips now and again. Last I had was early socket AM2. Just yesterday I picked up an AM3 Athlon II 550 or something like that, just to play around with. Intel chips seem rather happy up through around 85°C.

If you do not have room for the Noctua D14, you migh find room for the C12P-SE14. It's almost as effecient and quiet.

I'm very happy with mine running 40/30C on my X4 965.

I could have fitted a D14, but I liked the fact that the C12P isn't towerdesign but topdown, so it blows air on the mainboard as well.

Update. I installed my new Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus and things are much cooler now. I cleaned the old TIM off with ArctiClean and used Arctic Silver 5 for the new TIM. I only put one fan on the heatsink, but you can configure as a push/pull with a second fan if you want. I took this screenshot while running Prime95 on all 6 cores.

Note: These are temperatures with AMD Kool & Quiet enabled. When I let the fan rip at full speed the idle temp of my 1055t is 22 degrees!
