is it true that if u worked out before, then say u quit for 1 year, do ur strength come back faster than if you never worked out before?

I don't think it is because your body has 'memory' and builds muscle faster, I think it happens because people know how to lift and know what works for their body. This is all my personal opinion. I lifted hard for 2 years, then got back into it after 3 years. Been lifting solid and hard for the past 4 years.

when you're working out, you are not only workingout your muscles but also how effective your skeletal muscle nerves fire, so basically when u come back to it after some time, your nerves are already firing at a good rate, all you need to do it to increase ur muscle strength again?

thats my guess, anyone?

I know from personal experience it does happen, and I think part of it is "muscle memory" while another part is knowing how to train better as Cattlegod pointed out.

Although it depends how much you worked out before you quit, the answer is generally yes. You'll certainly be significantly weaker when you come back, but probably still stronger than the very first time you ever trained. And you'll progress up in weight at a noticeably faster rate. I think a huge part of this is that proper strength training involves not only increased muscle mass, but also a very large central nervous system component. Your brain learns how to get more of your muscle fibers to fire, how to balance the weight as you lift it, how to keep the rest of your body tight as you do it and so on. This is one of the reasons you can get stronger without gaining weight (or even while losing weight): you simply become more efficient at using the muscle you have. Therefore, if you stop training, you may lose much of the muscle mass, but a lot of the neuromuscular connection may remain.

yea, i agree, its worth some looking into
