Quick question

I have a formal dinner to go to tonight. I will be wearing a black suit and I was wondering it would be acceptable to wear a pale yellow tie on a solid black dress shirt.

Edit: The tie is solid as well.

Edit 2: I need a quick response. Thanks!

It has been my experience that most business people know nothing about how to dress so you will be right at home.

yes, that should be fine. it would look better with a lighter yellow shirt, but basically anything will work with black!

The tie is not the problem, it's the black dress shirt. Black does not go with black in that way, IMO. Also, formal generally means black tie and white shirt, to me anyway.

I always pick a tie that totally stands out from whatver else I'm wearing. But I'm just that way. I wouldn't ever wear a tie that I see most businesmen wearing. I like ties with color and shapes that make a statement.

I think a white shirt would be more suitable. I mean you can't go wrong with a white dress shirt right?

actually you can...white dress shirt, tie and black pants without a coat can make you look like a waiter at olive garden 🙂

Only if you wear yellow shoes.

I was assuming he's going to wear a black suit with it.

If the suit were yellow, that might be sweet looking.
