I recall seeing that suggestion on one of the cooling sites. As as alternative, the appropriate wire finger guard is a perfect template. That's what I used when I cut two holes in my case for 80mm fans.

i couldn;t find the right tool to cut mine..
i just need to cut out the vent for the 80mm fan in my case

heng1028: I use a bi-metal hole saw that attaches to my drill.

I used a variable speed dremel and about a hundred disks... but then I did a lot of cutting.

You might be able to cut the grillework out of your existing vents using an ordinary diagonal cutter (aka "wire cutter" or "side cutter"). With some cases, like an Enlight 7237, it is very easy. For cutting blowholes, I used sheet-metal blades in a jigsaw.

those cutters also known as dikes, i used a diamond dremel disk and an 18 volt sears cordless drill, very fun, till the mandrel broke and a diamond disk went frisbeeing around the garage, like one of those spy movies with the flying bouncing cutting disks, eye protection with rotational instruments!!!!
