He probably boots from that bootable linux distro that can read NTFS partitions and bypass the admin password. I can't even remember what it's called, but it got a lot of attention a year or two ago.

use a strong BIOS bootup password and physically secure the case. Don't forget the password, or you won't be able to boot either (without having to open your case at least).

1. Change your password to something secure
2. Dont run any attachments that he sends you in your email (keylogger)
3. Don't let him boot your computer with a floppy/CD (linux distros that can reset admin pw)

Well, first of all enable an admin password in BIOS.
If you enable it on system startup, there's no way to reset the password other than opening the computer, flipping a jumper switch.

Or, you can enable passs to disallow him from BIOS, then make the first bootup system your OS (not floppy or CD, you can boot from those, get a prompt and get into the system). Then make sure that when he's in WINXP he can't use a password recovery disk.. that should be it, I don't think you can get into a system via that method.

One thing you need to know.

With physical access to a computer, it is very easy to get in.

If you're running Windows (doesn't matter what flavor), someone with direct access to the machine with some tools will be able to break in. You can protect important files by using encryption (either the crappy encryption built into Windows, or something like PGP), but the person can break into the machine.

You can make it harder though, you can remove the userID from being shown when someone boots up (so they can't see what the last username was that was used to log in). You can also put a good password on each account and remove the guest account access etc. There's a ton of other things you can do to lock the box down, but the bottom line is that someone with physical access to the box with the right tools will be able to break in.

the bios password will come up before windows even loads.
