If a guy hits a home run, but is unable to run the bases (say, gets hurt after crossing first or second), what happens?

they get a base runner to take his place.....

that's what i thought, but the run counts nomatter what, correct?

Well, the run is not official until he touches every bag and it is not scored a run until he actually touches homeplate. I can see how you would say you get the run either way, but it is just not official until your cross homeplate.

He gets credit for the last base touched. If he does not make it past 2nd, credit him w/ a double.

Robin Ventura anyone?

So when does the pinch runner come in? If he touches second and his legs fall off, then the play ends, a pinch runner comes in and the game resumes like it was a double?

You can only bring a pinch runner in during a timeout. You can't continue running the bases after the timeout. Well, you can try, but the pitcher will have the ball.
