your bottleneck is the ram, if you would lower the divider you could keep the 1t command rate at 2800MHz, but it is better to increase the bandwidth (which is what you have done) cause the command rate has been shown to have exagerated importance.

So to sum it up, keep the 2800MHz and use the 2t command rate, although you may want to lower your mem divider and see how much further your cpu will go.

Thanks for the help. I have installed a different bios and changed some of the bios settings. Have been running at 2800MHZ with a 1T command last night and today with no problems. Haven't done any testing yet but if it works out good I'll be happy with 2800 stable, but would like to hit 3GHZ just to say I was there and then back down to 2800.

if it errors within 1 min. then you definitely should not use it like that, you could be corrupting files.

I finally got serious about overclocking and was able to push up to 2.6Ghz on the stock 4400+ heatsink. However, the computer started locking up or giving BSOD instead of failing prime. It never failed Prime in either core up to 2.6Ghz, at which point it simply locked up. I have an Enermax Noisetaker II 600W... I guess I'm running out of juice? Back down to 2.5Ghz for now.

How about a Am2 DFI M2 Ultra with 1GBx2 GSkill DDR800?

Lock the ram at 800 and just over clock the cpu?

I'm looking for a moddest overclock from 2.0 to 2.4 GHz.

Ok, so I tried to over clock. When I set the bios clock to 240 which would give me 2.4GHz
it shows what my ram would run at. At least I think. I set the ram to run at a divider but I ended up failing post with a DRAM error.

So maybe im not locking the bus right.

Anybody with a DFI board willing to help me out here? This bios confuses me and I don't feel like clearing the CMOS every post.

I also have some corsair value that I had running at DDR333 on my sempron 3000+ @ 2.2ghz on an ECS motherboard

Current Overclock (prime95 stable, can't get vista to boot memtest for some reason)

HT = 3
CPU = 267*9
Vcore ~ 1.51v
DVIMM = 2.7v (tried 2.9 too)
MEM = DDR 200 (100MHZ)

For some reason, I cant get my OCZ memory to go past DDR200 when I overclock. When I test memory only as described in guide I can get HTT to go up to 270 and post with no problem (on DDR200).

However, when I try to get it to work with my overclock, I cant get memory past DDR200 is that strange to any one?

so you're saying that even though i have really crappy memory, i should set a divider because CPU speed makes a bigger difference than RAM speed? my RAM is really junky though...what would you let your memory speed fall to before you decided that it wasnt worth it to lose any more RAM speed in order to gain more CPU speed?

you don't really have to lose ram speed, as you raise your cpu speed, your memory speed rises with it, but if you use a divider you can lower it back to it's original speed (give or take) while keeping the cpu at a higher speed.

Quick question,

I checked out the OC guide in the OP but my ECS nForce 3 board doesn't seem to have the necessary locks needed in the first step. There are some CPU and Memory OC options but nothing about locking the FBS. I'm running an older A64 socket 754 3000+ and I'd like to push it a little farther until I upgrade later this year. Any help?

I want to OC my FX60 and the question is: there are two ways to raise the CPU clock speed from the default 2,6 to 2,8: A) raising the multiplier from the default 13 to 14, maintaining the RAM at 200 and getting 2.800 Mhz, or B) Lowering the multi to 12, raising the RAM to 234 with a divider at 166, and getting almost the same clock speed of 2.808 Mhz.-
In the first case the memory bus is running at 200 and in the second at 187,2, are these the values that afects the HTF ratio, so X5 can be used in both cases without exceeding the 1000 limit ?
Which of both options gets a better performance ?

What if the voltage exceeds 1.45V but the temps are kept relatively low? Is it still dangerous?
I want to see if my AMD X2 4600+ S939 90nm processor will go beyond 2.70-2.76GHz but it won't pass Prime95 or OCCT at 2.8GHz with the voltage fluctuating between 1.456-1.472. I was wondering if I increased the voltage even further and managed to pass OCCT or Prime95 could I keep it at those settings or am I greatly risking ruining my processor?

I was wondering why my 3800+ X2 wasn't getting past 2.2Ghz and then I realized (thanks to this guide) that I needed to set the HT multiplier to something other than 5. I can get this baby to 2.8Ghz now and settled on a nice stable 2.5Ghz at the end of it all to get an even 1000Mhz HT speed since I don't have uber overclocking RAM. Runs all day long without a hiccup.

Yeah I am stuck under a 2.2 right now because I never saw this guide, now that I see this guide, it's gonna help me achieve great OC speeds with my dual core opty 165

i have the memory speed changed, but only did it on someone else's advise

so is the memory suppose to be running near the same speed as the FSB?

my memory divider is @ 250 and my fsb is 235...
is that good or bad?

on my AMD rig, i set the memory locked at 1:1 ratio, and also locked my AGP, and voltages down.

then started playing with FSB 210, i was able to go up to 215 but it was unstable

and now it's safe and stable at 2.5 Ghz average temp is aprox 45c using stock HSF from retail package
