I have Windows Vista Pro 64 bit running on my computer now. The problem is that it is running on an old WD 160 gig HDD that is at least 5 years old (it was the largest consumer drive sold at the time bought it).
I recently bought Win7 Pro (Student Edition) which apparently is an upgrade edition, and a new Samsung 7200rpm 1Tb drive.
So, I installed the new drive, and installed Win7 on it. It never asked for me to put in my Vista DVD for authentification check, so I assumed it saw the install on the other drive and accepted the upgrade. I skipped authenticating at the time because I was not connected to the internet, but now when I try to activate my copy of Win7 it tells me that this version of Win7 can only be used for upgrades not clean installs.
So, any way to fix this?
