So many people like to talk about sh|t they know nothing about. What's the matter? You didn't get into a fraternity and they made you cry because of it? Now you hate them because, as many of you 'enlightened' people have already said, "They're gay." Wow, that's just pathetic.

Well, the harder stuff is supposed to bring the pledge class closer together, which is does. The humiliating stuff would be to gain self confidence, or that's what I'd assume anyway.

That may be so, but I've seen our pledge class come together from the Haunted House projects just the same. Plus, they are allowed to get input/help from any of the older brothers if they ask. Of course, hazing in the media sense is far different from what is really done in fraternities (or at least from what I've seen).

That's not essentially true. In 'certain programs', you have to go through ALOT for your pbro's. In those 'certain programs' you look at your pbro and it's like "goddamn, I can't believe you did that sht" and stuff like that. Those 'programs' stress sacrifice ALOT. I don't see how you can sacrifice making a haunted house. They 'push you to your limits' that way you know where they are and can grow.

At least, that's 'they' want 'you' to believe. Blind faith goes a long way.

Ummm... WTF? I haven't the foggiest idea of what you are trying to say. Also, it's spelled "a lot".

Building a Haunted House for the local children was a great exercise for our pledges. They got to see the fruits of their labor and enjoy what they had accomplished. Plus, the community enjoyed it. We had parents bringing children who had been brought by their parents when they were kids. Neat stuff.

If drinking till you puke is a show of sacrifice (or whatever your "special programs" were), then have fun.

Unfortunately there some fraternity?s where hazing is present, but not all of them. I know for a fact that Sigma Pi, which I am a member of, does not take the issue lightly. Hazing is strictly prohibited which I agree with. A fraternity is not seeing how big of a man you are, but meeting friends for life.
Maybe at your school....

What you find out about fraternities is that every chapter is different. I was a Phi Kap for a semester, and there was NO hazing going on there, but there were chapters at other schools that I heard did it frequently. There is no guarantee.

For the record, the Sigma Nu's were the worst about hazing at our school, but the Kappa Alpha's were tied with the Sigma Pi's for second.

Umm, what fraternity are you pledging anyway? Seriously, thats ridiculous. What 'sacrifices' are you talking about? Sleep? Grades? Liver function? And what 'programs' are you talking about too?

I'm not gonna say it in a public forum, I'm not THAT stupid lol. Anyways....

Just wanted to hear some stories from other fraternity guys. Different programs have different objectives and accomplish them in different ways. My fraternity chose it's path and I'm just walking down it.

At my school, Pi Kappa Alpha hazes the hardest, Alpha Tau Omega probably 2nd

You won't say what fraternity you're in? Are you ashamed or something? I'm a Sigma Nu (and very proud of my chapter). There, was that so hard?

I'm supposed to be a ghost while I pledge. So, until after I cross, nobody needs to know 😉

Don't bother with your flame suit, we can't help it you're ignorant.

Yea, I pay dues. Know what? I get free food fairly often, I get trips to sporting events, we had a beach house for 10 days over the summer that I went to for free, etc. If you're an active member, you get all that money back.

Douchebag. I repeat, don't talk about what you don't know.

my point exactly

We always encouraged our pledges to wear their pins. If you are going to join (or consider to join) a fraternity, why not be proud of that decision?

Sounds like you are part of a house that hazes.... why would you join a house like that?

Short, simple answer: No.

I have never in my life been hazed. I still consider joining my fraternity to be one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I'm not even in college anymore. Our organization is one of the most closely-knit out there, and for that I am glad.

Well, I am in Pi Kappa Alpha. We don't haze AT ALL. It is completely against what we were founded for. Robert Adger Smythe would turn over in his grave if he knew that was occuring.
