But what about the hair? Does the guy(girl) still have to shave their face and whatnot, or do they do something to stop the body hair growth??

This dude had better legs than most girls I had ever seen, but you could tell from his jaw and from his forearms that it was a guy. He did have hair on his arms that was darker that what you would expect on a female, but the rest of his body hair wasn't a problem. I think the estrogen and other supplements they give them counter-act the natural testosterone levels...

It facinates me that someone would want to do the whole gender reassignment thing. I don't think I would want to deal with the problems of being a women. It can't just be on a whim. From what I've read, people who seek sex change operations seem to feel like they're stuck inside a body of the wrong sex. I guess it's not something we can easily think of, because we don't really have any "calibration" to allow us to know what it's like.

So tell me, exactly what must your wife (or women in general) do to get ready to go out in the morning? 5 minutes isn't enough time for me, I take that just to get dressed, brush my hair, shave, and brush my teeth. Then there's breakfast and making sure I have everything I'll need for the day. I try to leave at least 20 minutes to get ready in the morning. I also like to be at least mostly awake when I'm driving, too. Driving asleep is really not a good thing at all.

Seriously, it's not like they just wake up one day and think "Hmm... I want a penis/vagina..." Transgendered people (and by extension transexuals) are just that. They self-identify as the opposite of their genetic gender. It's rather moving actually to hear transgendered people talking about their lives, especially during puberty. Betrayed is a word that comes up rather frequently.

And yes hormone therapy is a requirement before they'll do a sex change op. It was especially interesting to me (as a male) to hear about female -> male shifts. As I recall one said "before I wanted to cuddle... now I've just got this sex drive that's there all the time..." To me at least, it was a little bit comforting to know that what I feel as an oftentimes "exuberant" libido is normal. I, as have most other men, hear derogatory comments like "All he/guys think about is sex..." rather often.
