question about prom

ok. ive heard from a few people that guys are supposed to get the garter(garder?) from their dates. my date(hot) said that she was going to go get one with her friends. is there some sort of tradition with guys getting these, or are my friends full of sh!t.

None of my friends are getting garters for their dates...but the new kool thing to do is for the girl to get you a garter, then you wear it as an arm band...lots of people are planning to do that this year

No, that is a girdle. A garter is a lacy elastic band that goes on the girl's leg.

I've never heard of the garter as a prom tradition, only a wedding tradition. I did catch the garter at the last wedding I went to.
