Question about difference between logarithms and exponents...

I'm supposed to write a little bit of information on logarithms and exponents and they seem like they are the same thing. Are there any differences that I should be aware of?

yeah, they're just two different ways to write the same thing

ie: x^y = z or log(base x) z = y

I can't find an easily referenced source on the rest of it all, but I am not spending my time on it...my main project right now is to find my 'indentured servant' a laptop for Christmas.
