Question about calorie intake and exercising.

with a daily calorie intake of 2500 calories, lets say that my breakfast and lunch are worth about 1000 calories, IF and only if I burn those 1000 calories in a workout after lunch, does that mean that I have 2500 calories by dinner time? in other words, does it "reset"?

If you both breakfast and lunch are 500 calories each and you required 2500 calories total, you will lose weight if you don't eat 1500 calories at dinner. And if you burn 1000 calories on top of that, you are at a total caloric deficit of 2500 calories. You will lose A LOT of weight if you don't eat for your activity level. If you're in a caloric deficit over ~1k calories, your body will propagate a starvation response, which will slow your metabolism dramatically.

I wouldn't think of calories as having much of a relation to time. Your body will burn both glycogen, fat stores, and muscle (if degree of starvation is high enough) to meet your caloric needs. Is there any particular reason why you're asking this? It's usually pretty rare that people burn 1000 calories in a workout after lunch, unless you're doing longer-length endurance activity.

1,000 calories is roughly 10 miles of walking at a brisk pace, to use a rule of thumb.

In general, people underestimate the amount they consume and overestimate the amount they expend during exercise, which causes a lot of consternation when the weight keeps on going up in spite of the fact the machine tells you that you "burned" 600 calories.
