*** added this part: after reading some reviews it does look like the 10k II would be the best choice of the 3 i listed below... my new question:
1. how much faster would the atlas 10k II be comparted to an ibm 60gxp?
2. would it only be faster on paper, or would it be noticable in every day usage (i do games/video editing/mpeg2 encoding)
***
im looking to get a new scsi hard drive, something thats either u2w or u160 and also 10,000 rpm
what drive would you scsi guys suggest? these are all used drives and all about the same price.....
some of the ones im looking at:
1. Quantum Atlas 10k 18.2 SCSI (18WLS)
2. IBM Ultrastar 18LZX
3. Quantum Atlas 10k II 18.2 (how much advantage is there with the 10k II over the plain atlas 10k?)
some guys are selling these drives used (each drive from a dif guy) but they are all about equally priced, they are all 10k rpm and they are also all u160
im figuring the atlas 10kII is going to be nicer then the older atlas 10k, but where does the ibm drive fall?
any help/suggestions is appreciated
*** edit *** i guess i should add that all the drives are 18gb *****
