Qubec is to Canada like <blank> is to the US.

But you idiots in Ontario are all for voting Liberal and raping the military's budget!

We don't have a military to send in there.

You can vote liberal AND support a stronger military. These stupid political grouping based on who you vote is retarded, IMO. Take a look at P&N and see how retarded it can be.

(yes I realize the Conservatives were in favour of military spending, but their position on other issues, such as gay marriage, basically cost them my vote).

There isn't one, because no single state in the US considers itself far better than everyone (save maybe california), and none of the other states in the US detest any other single state, and hate the people who live in it almost as much as those who live in it hate the other states.
You can vote liberal AND support a stronger military.
Maybe in theory 😉

Wow, from this thread it seems everyone thinks all we do in TX is sit around and decide when to secede.

I've lived my whole life here, and can count on my fingers the number of times somebody has talked about that, and almost always they were joking. You can't base an opinion of an entire state on the opinion of a fringe minority, even if it is highly publicised.

And Red Dawn, you wore that dumbfvckistan line out years ago. time for a new one.

Like I said, I cant vote for Conservatives just because they support a stronger military, which I like. I have to weigh it against other issues. Anyway, the Liberals did inject a good portion in to the military, to keep the conservatives happy.

i don't know anyplace in the US that wants to no longer be part of the US so it can pretend to be France... not even Louisiana.

FTR, the last Liberal budjet saw the largest outlay of new military spending since Trudeau. That's right, another Liberal.

Mulroney was the person who started the trend up gutting our armed forces.

Just for the record, I'm an NDPer, so I've little bias in this one.

And quit bashing Quebec, they have some legitimate greivances, though each new one is much smaller than the last one.

Quickie timeline:

Plains of Abraham.
British kick a small amount of ass during the Revolutions of 1839 (did I get the date right?)
Mounties fire on conscription protesters. Oh, and 1000s of Quebec boys are sent to die for the British crown.
900 innocent Quebeckers are arrested without charge by Trudeau.
Trudeau and Chretien shaft Bourassa during the constitutional debates.
Mulroney fails to bring together Meech Lake
Chretien insults them by thinking he can buy their love with a few billboards.

Did I miss anything?

10 years from now, their biggest complaint will be that some Juno award presenter miss-pronounced Gilles Vigneault's name.

I don't see the similarity between Quebec & Texas, I don't think there's any area in the US that is as bent on secession & as liberal as Quebec is.

I have yet to see a group of Spanish speakers demanding secession.

The people in Texas who speak Spanish are pretty damn happy to be in the US.

Same people that preach democracy and the right to self-determination. Hypocrites!
Oh look, luvly talking about something she has no idea about. Wait, that's every subject.

This isn't about democracy and self-determination. By god, I should have expected a brilliant mind like yours to equate Iraq to Canada. The Canadian federal government bends over backwards to help these clowns, and what's the result? A province that knows that whining and threats always lead to more cash. A province with a different set of civil law codifications than the rest of the country. A province that determines above all others who sits as Prime Minister of the country. What a joke.

Name one thing that Quebec would change if it declared independence that doesn't reek of isolationism for the sake of racism. Immigration? They're barely keeping level with the amount of people coming in. Culture? How do you compete in the civilized world if you have to block out all outside influences? Economy? When the separatism vote was taken and the use of the Canadian dollar threatened, the PQ said they'd consider hooking up onto the American dollar. Now that's a brilliant plan for financial independence!

Separatism is perpetuated for the sake of keeping a party of nitwits in power in the country. Its young believers are those who grow up crying out at the wrongs l'Anglais have done to them when I'm sure many of them have never had a ten-minute conversation with an Ontarian. Morons and racists - I stand by it.
