No, because it tends to confuse and awe the poster. Makes my statements more sinister, sarcastic, and snide, in a way! :p

I think this term is actually now being used in some advertisements I've come across in a few magazines I read..
So, FTW must only be associated with the computer geek/enthusiast crowd

I find that hard to believe. I've never seen FTW anywhere else except ATOT and counter-strike.

I don't have the previous back issues, but I believe it was in a Maximum PC magazine.. a Dell ad

Oh! Now I see.

I can't see myself ever using that, but it does make sense now.

I thought FTW meant Fvck the World. That's what I'd been told, so that one also didn't make any sense.

Your call. To me, though, it kinda seems like buying someone an ice cream, then shoving it in their face (except in a reversed order). Or, kicking someone then giving them candy.

I always associate QFT as "quite fvcking true" even though I know the real definition. Try it out, it's usually more fitting.

Then maybe I should put it at the beginning of the post from now on! ;):p

And when I was younger, and for a long time before that, FTW meant F*** The World.

That felt odd and looks even odder. I don't think I'll do it again. The only time I don't put that at the end of my posts is when I'm really mad. It takes a lot to make me that mad though! :)

qft is most usefull when agreeing with a particular persons post. it gives your support of the post while at the same time giving credit to the original poster.

ftw/ftl is most usefull in gaming forums, where a particular game mechanic is being raved about or ranted on. ftw/ftl isnt used here nearly as much as Ive seen it used on other game specific forums.

dell's url for it's new ultimate gamer system is like, dell.com/ftw. i thought it was a weird coincidence but they actually say 'for the win' in the ad. it's uh. disturbing.

Wow, I must be breaking some unspoken and unwritten "lifer" rule, that I should know every single acronym in existence. It started popping up more while I wasn't posting for a while and I just recently started back. If I saw it before then, I just assumed it meant something else and didn't think much of it. It's sad that a person can't post a question on ATOT anymore without feeling like they have to defend it.
