o_O you already have a Qx9650, why get the non-extreme version?

Other than that... lemme know how it handles SupCom! SupCom is the only reason a gamer should care about quads anyway. Load up an 81km/81km map with 8000 units fighting it out and see how it handles it! >_>

in a sense yes.

i dont know how much abuse this girl took b4 it came to my hands.

So im gonna limit the max voltage to 1.45V.

My Bench doesnt have the water required for more. Im waiting on one of my blocks to get a step based b4 i throw it on.

Oh screw the synthetic benchmarks, bring on the games daamit :D! I have no idea which games you own though...

Btw, are those the Tracers in the pic? They look like Team Xtreem to me, for some reason.

those are the team extreme's i was playing with:

http://i125.photobucket.com/al...aigomorla/IMG_0892.jpg

tracers in the bottom lower right corner. :T

Amber the LED lights annoy me so i dont use them unless benching.
Feels like im gonna get a sezure from staring at them too long.

What game benchmarks can i download for free and run?

EDIT: got home im doing occt @ 3.6 400x9 for kicks and giggles.

Vcore is unbelievable @ 1.2V i'll go for 4.0ghz @ 1.3

I might get board limited. I dont have too much faith in my 780i.

UPDATE:
http://i125.photobucket.com/al...aigomorla/Capture2.jpg

going for 4.0 after this occt run.

okey the 780i just pwned me like i knew it would.

I set the cpu at 1.4V

Idle 1.36v . Load it dropped to 1.32V

At this point im gonna pencil mod the board and see if i can get within .2 or .3 of the bios v to match vcore.

so this will be continued on the weekends.

:T

but im still taking requests.

well no one really did a review on a Q9650.

Figured it would be nice, since everyone knows me as a quad person.

If i realize its too much work, i may loan it out to a friend thats a mod here, and have him review it for me.

Or i could always loan it to anandtech's cpu reviewer and ask him to do it there also.

but i kinda want to try a cpu review for once. :D

Decided to bench it @

3.0 stock
3.6
4.0

:D

So I take it Intel is waiting until the very last day of Q3 to release this the e8600 and drop the prices on the other CPUs?

You got a kill-a-watt or similiar for reporting idle/load system power consumption at the wall? Would be nice to see how bad it gets when you start reaching 4GHz territory.

The only reason I ever got my quad (q6600) was for encoding. x264 HD is what I am so excited to see on yours. I am finding it hard to justify anything over my Q6600 G0 which oc's so nice and temps really are not that bad. Eagerly awaiting to see how much better that CPU of yours is. Also I work with some seriously large files which we compress/unrar etc. Would be nice to see your score from the benchmark that comes free on winrar (multithreaded). However I note you have only one HD so raring/unraring from the same drive nomrally kills performance in real work but the benchmark should not matter.

Might I ask why not the newer 790i boards? I thought they were at least a decent step up over the 780i which is not much more than a slightly glorified 680i which I have. Or there is no reason for the 790i?

aigo, did you have problems at 4050 b/c of the fsb? I've never gotten higher than 450 fsb stable on my 9450, but I can (and have) run all day long for months on seti 24/7 there. weird...

I have a cyberpower UPS i can take voltage off of.

i have a little saying.

fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.

With nvidia, ive given then about 8 tries. No thank you, THis is the LAST NVIDIA board i will own period for intel.

I got fooled stepping up to the 780i. I wanted SLI + 45nm support this is the only reason.

If i wasnt running 3d06 i would of chuged this board out, and dropped the LT X38 back in. Then you guys would be seeing me have fun with voltages in 1.5 range with an OC hopefully in the 4.2+ range.

But no. I dont trust nvidia, and its already bit me once in this test. See Vdroop.

This is why i love independant reviews. I can talk as much crap as i want about a vendor and piss them off. Because they didnt sponsor me for jack, nor would i want to be sponsored to write a bias'd review.

P5Q Deluxe w/ load line calibration enabled: 1.4v set in bios = 1.39v idle & 1.4v load

Get over to the Intel side already man.

I have an nForce chipset.
It's my A8N32-SLI Deluxe ...back from when they made decent chipsets.

Anyway, all i'd like to see is max P95 stable clocks @ 1.4v on air, as anything more is too high for 45nm IMO anyway.
