I have an E0 Q9550 on a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R with a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 cooler and 4GB of G.Skill PI.
I did some OCing, and leaving everything else auto, I am now running at 4.037GHz (475x8.5). Idle it runs at 2.8GHz, 1.1v and a temp of about 30c. Under load at 4.0 it gets up to about 1.3v, and 60c. During 11 hours of prime, not a single core got over 62c.
Just to give an idea of how it runs. It posted at 500x8.5, but wouldn't load windows, and it's been on since Saturday morning without a problem. I could also probably take off some of the "auto" settings and get it running a little better.
My question is, is it relatively safe to keep it clocked at these speeds, or should I only push it up when I am really using the CPU. I just don't want to burn out the CPU in 6 months or something.
Thanks!
