VID is 1.30V btw
High VID for this proc. According to AS5 application instructions for an Intel Quad, the stripe or line method is correct. No need to spread it out, the weight and pressure you put on your heat sink will do that. This is to insure you do not get any trapped air bubbles.

Do you have the C1E and EIST functions enabled in your bios?

C1E Function
This item appears only for certain processors with the C1E (Enhanced Halt State) Function.
When set to [Enabled], the processor will further reduce the total power consumption.

EIST Function
This item appears only for certain processors with the EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep
Technology) Function. When set to [Enabled], EIST will dynamically switch between multiple

EDIT: They where at auto and enabled, have disabled them now.

Idle temps 39-48c thats like retail fan temps 🙁

Guess this is a bad layer of thermal paste 🙁

Depends mostly on the tim.

I just use a horizontal line sideways... im on a quadcore and then apply pressure on the waterblock to smash it thin. Also my blocks are bowed, so having it paper thin can sometimes push too much tim off to the side.

Running 9x356=3200 and hottest core after almost an hour of prime is 55c 🙂 1.33Vcore.

So its deffinetly improved

Yes indeed 🙂 don't know what I did different compared to the first time I mounted the fan :s but at least I got it working, so now I want to find a stable 3380 oc
 
Got a stable 3380 now, with 1.41(Bios) 1.35 (cpuz) vcore. Loading temps is 62-66c.

Wondering if I should aim for 3.6gz now, my vcore seems high, but the difference between my cpuz reading and my bios setting is also abit high so it might not be too bad I guess, which should I trust?

And just after I closed my prime95 and temps got to 4xc my comp freezed (no bsod) could this really be cpuz I just started that caused that, someone mentioned cpuz being able to crash your computer.
 
I'd say suit yourself.

I've explained my view: this is all about statistical probability, tolerances, stress of materials, and other things. You're probing the upper limits of statistical distributiions, with higher risks of failure.

If the retail box maximum VCORE is 1.35V, and if default for various motherboards puts it at 1.37V, and if 1.41V gets you to 3.4 Ghz so that it droops under load to the maximum or below, I'd say tweak your 3.6 settings if you can find them, save it in some sort of loadable profile, and start looking to fine-tune a cool lower-voltage setting near your 3.4 Ghz.

Ask AigoMorla. People here on the forums burn out all sorts of parts. Even cautious ol' me. I just got a response to my RMA request to Crucial.
 
I am not quite getting what your saying :/ I dont think I can make it go with any lower than 1.41 with my 9x376 but as I said cpuz reads 1.35 so I guess thats the correct ?
 
To get an unstable 3.3ghz on my Q6600, I had to set my Vcore to 1.58, and then I had errors everywhere. My temp was only 75C underload though.
 
Just built this system 2 days ago. Never OC'ed before, but it seemed like everybody and their mom was doing the Q6600. =p

After a minor simple error or two, I think I'm running stable at 3.0ghz, 1.3vcore, with 45 minutes of Prime putting me at 61, 59, 56, 56. These temperature have actually DROPPED a degree or so over these 45 minutes. So I guess this is where they will stay. I might try dropping the vcore a little bit to save energy/heat, if possible. But I don't know if I feel like tweaking with it anymore heh.
 
Q6600 @ 3.5ghz atm seem to be stable in prime but my temp is unacceptable. load 65c-75c

CPU: Q6600 /w Tuniq
Vcore : 1.368
CPU:RAM 1:1

Going to try see if i can push down any more voltage to reduce some heat but i highly doubt it.
I used the thermal paste that came with the tuniq and didnt read what brand of paste is it and just slapped on it, turn out pretty bad. 🙂

Going to try new thermal paste and if temp still dont go down ill just make it 3ghz and be happy with it.

It's TX-1 and yes it is really awful stuff in that it doesn't thin-out very well even under the pressure from the Tuniq bolted to your mobo. It makes more of a plastic-disc like TIM.

Replace it with just about anything and you'll be happier. I used ceramique, AS5, TX-2 and TX-1. I think AS5 and TX-2 give the same performance on Tuniq.

Your temps are crazy but that comes partly from 3.5GHz too. At 3.3GHz I come in around upper 50's to low 60's with small FFT.
 
I got my G0 q6600 to 3.1ghz stable at 1.13125V in bios. The pencil mod (Vdroop) seems to have helped me immensely in lowering the voltage settings overall.
