maybe you should work on your Engrish first, then the calc will follow.

I think that too much emphasis is placed on memorization. We are forced to memorize an equation so that we can spit it out on a test two weeks later. I think that as long as you truly understand the concepts and know where to go to find the information when you need it then you have learned the subject. This is why as a math major, I always kept ALL of my books.
Now this doesn't apply for the simple stuff....ie differentiation, integration...etc....

I don't really remember any specifics of calc at all, though the principles stick. You ask me to solve even a simple intergal and it would take me a while but I can define what the derivitive of a function is and what it means in a statistical sense (with relation to design of experiements).

I guess that it takes 3 years to completely forget Calculus. I took calc in college, but I still have no idea what you're talking about.![]()

I'm talking about once you hit integrals...then it's pretty much integration all the time since it replaces lots of the stuff you learn earlier on. And yes, that means pretty much anything you learn in calculus in the beginning is going to be tossed once integration shows up...
Of course, all that complex algebra becomes simple with even basic calculus so it's just how it goes.
And you will forget EVERYTHING after the final =p
I know because I took a year between calculus 1 and 2 and I couldn't remember what a derivative was...I scraped through calc 2 and after winter break I can't remember jack shite hahaah...at least not the rule based stuff like Simpson's rule(I just can't remember the pattern...it's either 2442 or 4224 or something...lol).
