argh...learning calculus is the PITA :|!
I have problem doing the calc that I learned 2 weeks ago. everytime when the exams, I will get all aggravated for re-learning the calc that I learned 1-2 months ago :(

I hate calc...

I always pay attention, it is just too easy to forget! I almost forget as soon as I learned. but the good thing is I can relearn it quite fast.

It leaks out of your ear every night while you sleep. I barely remember anything, and don't really care. I knew it'd be useless to me, and sure enough, it was.

I think that too much emphasis is placed on memorization. We are forced to memorize an equation so that we can spit it out on a test two weeks later. I think that as long as you truly understand the concepts and know where to go to find the information when you need it then you have learned the subject. This is why as a math major, I always kept ALL of my books.

Now this doesn't apply for the simple stuff....ie differentiation, integration...etc....

I can't wait to sell the damn book at 70% of the value I bought for :|
do you keep your notes too?
well, I don't think I did enough to truly understand the whole concept. but come on, I hate it.

if you learn the fundamental principles its nearly impossible to forget. most equations through calc I i can derive in a heart beat

I don't really remember any specifics of calc at all, though the principles stick. You ask me to solve even a simple intergal and it would take me a while but I can define what the derivitive of a function is and what it means in a statistical sense (with relation to design of experiements).

I started taking my AP Calc BC class at the beginning of the school year, and enjoy it. For some reason applied differentiation (related rates and whatnot) was harder for me than integration. I actually love integration, it's fun and it keeps me thinking.

After I took my Calc final, if you came up and asked me about whatever question, my answer would be "Calc is officially out of my brain now".

I guess that it takes 3 years to completely forget Calculus. I took calc in college, but I still have no idea what you're talking about. :)

Don't worry dude...once you get past a certain point it becomes the same crud over and over...

I'm talking about once you hit integrals...then it's pretty much integration all the time since it replaces lots of the stuff you learn earlier on. And yes, that means pretty much anything you learn in calculus in the beginning is going to be tossed once integration shows up...

Of course, all that complex algebra becomes simple with even basic calculus so it's just how it goes.

And you will forget EVERYTHING after the final =p

I know because I took a year between calculus 1 and 2 and I couldn't remember what a derivative was...I scraped through calc 2 and after winter break I can't remember jack shite hahaah...at least not the rule based stuff like Simpson's rule(I just can't remember the pattern...it's either 2442 or 4224 or something...lol).

I am still with derivative, so what does this mean? :(

I still remember sequence and series.I always had a special place in my heart for Taylor series.
