I have a question.... or two.

Is dmcowen674 the "Common Courtesy" Mod and is dennilfloss the "Chunky Monster" mod?

I'm 99% sure dmcowen674 is still a mod but not 100% sure of his mod username. I'm guessing with dennil's status but I would bet Red's soul that he is a mod now. :D

I was spot on with the Red Dawn being a mod as he was spot on with me being known as "CrazyFool" before but he cheated. :p

Dennil was a mod, but I don't think they'd take him back now. He has no reason to be anonymous either way.

As for the ones who are anonymous, it has been stated that it's because of business related issues (at least for one of them). I've been out of the loop in terms of occupation, but I don't think Dave has a business running through here. Mind you, they can't and won't confirm either way because that would defeat the purpose. ;)

Yeah like it was some kind of big secret that I was a Moderator:roll:

My previous usernames were CrazyFool and BeachBoy. I will not be intimidated by Red Dawn or any other mod who thinks they can use this against me.
I'm confused why you'd think we would try to use that to intimidate you? Did you have some kind of problem with the membership when you were posting under the handle of Crazy Fool? If so it's news to me.

Nothing. If you are in an AOL chat room.

We don't allow it for a number of reasons. Off the top of my head:
It adds nothing of substance to the topic or the forums in general. Other members upon seeing it, add to it.

People use it to pad their post count. This can be bad if they are trying to do it to look like they spend a lot of time here so that members in FS/T may be more trusting of them. Troll have done it in the past.

It wastes bandwidth.

It knocks legitimate threads down the page.

There is no registration for the name "CrazyFool". "BeachBoy" was registered in 2006, has 0 posts and it set to be inactive.

Also, your sig puts you in direct violation of the forum guidelines. Specifically number 13.
Now while you don't have to be intimidated by me, you do have to be banned for a week.
Happy now?
Oh yea, take that out of your sig too or I'll add another week.

EDIT
I looked a little deeper and found that your name chages were done by Mods and that it wasn't a result of any bannings and you starting new accounts. So, basically you have a legitimate reason for the names yet you post a call out in your sig. Put down the crack pipe.

Thanks for the answer. I had wondered what the deal was. Makes sense to me now.

suppose a question is asked in a thread, and someone posts a well articulated response. suppose i have nothing new to add, but i want to express that i am of the same opinion. is it considered neffing if i quote it and simply add a "QFT" or "x2"?

on the surface, yes, it might seem like nothing of substance is added to the thread, but it's actually establishing that this is the consensus opinion.

One layer of acceptance is considered acceptable.

Mulitple layers is not - it is not that difficult to delete embedded quotes if one desires.

Can a stick ypost be added to the top of each forum with the mods for that particular area so we know who to contact when we have an issue?

Most have been but I believe the preferred contact channel is to PM or email Anandtech Moderator.

There was a post sticked in each forum with assigned mods. The tiles were "AnandTech Forum Guideline and Moderation Changes Announcement "

As for who to contact, follow what Gillbot says.
